2024 Nissan Patrol Redesign: Rumors and Expectations

0

The legendary off-roader has been around for decades but the current generation isn’t as great as it used to be. The reason lays in the fact that it’s been 12 years since we saw it redesigned last time. Meanwhile, most rivals received numerous updates. Even the arch-rival Land Cruised received a full overhaul last year, so we are all waiting for Nissan’s response. According to the latest reports, the Japanese manufacturer is already working on the next generation and from what we can see, the new model could arrive already in the next year, as the 2024 Nissan Patrol.

At this point, the officials are still quiet but if we can judge by rumors, it looks like most changes will be evolutionary. Allegedly, the company wants to keep but update the platform, as well as the overall layout. On the other hand, we should see significant improvements regarding tech features, powertrain, efficiency etc.

The all-new 2024 Nissan Patrol should arrive sometime in the second half of the next year.

As we already mentioned, this redesign is expected to bring a lot of novelties, and many of them should be evolutionary. This particularly refers to the platform. Allegedly, the 2024 Nissan Patrol is about to continue to ride on a familiar F-Alpha platform. However, the platform will undergo significant updates, which should bring all kinds of improvements. Of course, one of the things that come to mind is weight reduction, which should positively affect fuel efficiency.

Another thing we expect to see is a new suspension setup. We expect that the new setup will provide better ride quality and make this SUV more comfortable on the road. On the other hand, we have no doubt that the off-road performance will remain at a super-high level. Higher trim levels should bring all kinds of off-road upgrades, including locking differentials, a two-speed transfer case and other pieces of hardware.

Exterior

Of course, one of the most notable aspects of the new generation will be the new styling. At this point, it’s still early to talk about details but we expect that the overall size won’t change significantly. We count on a similar wheelbase and overall proportions because bigger dimensions would certainly have a negative effect on off-road potential.

Naturally, we also count on a completely new styling. The current generation was updated recently and looks pretty modern but we expect that this redesign would bring things to the next level. Some of the inspiration may be taken from the new Frontier, but we expect that the vehicle will, generally, follow the brand’s latest design language and bring the latest iteration of the V-Motion grille and other design elements that characterize contemporary Nissan models.

Interior

Unlike the exterior, the inside of the current generation hasn’t changed much since the redesign. Therefore, it’s no wonder it looks quite outdated. Most rivals look way more modern and more upscale, even though the Patrol’s build quality and materials are actually pretty impressive. Therefore, we presume that Nissan designers will focus on aesthetics and offer a more attractive design, which will combine appealing aesthetics with a high level of functionality. Naturally, we also expect to see all kinds of the latest tech features.

Considering that the next generation will probably keep the same dimensions, we don’t expect bigger changes regarding interior space. The 2024 Nissan Patrol should continue with three quite spacious rows of seats, where even the third row is quite functional. The cargo area is already pretty spacious, so we expect nothing less from the new model.

2024 Nissan Patrol Engine

This aspect will certainly bring changes. Considering the current gas prices, there is no doubt that the Japanese manufacturer is looking for a replacement for the good-old 5.6-liter V8 engine. The current unit puts out around 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque and despite a solid performance, it features pretty low mpg ratings, which is the main reason why we expect changes.

So far, Nissan officials haven’t been impressed with the idea of electrification of the BoF segment. If they are still thinking in this direction, we may presume that the choice will go on a turbocharged V6 engine. At this point, details are still unavailable but some sources speculate about a turbocharged version of the 3.8-liter V6. Although it’s still early to talk about numbers, we presume that the goal would be to keep up with Toyota’s new 3.4-liter twin-turbo, which puts out around 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Also, we would expect to see a new transmission, probably a 9-speed unit.

2024 Nissan Patrol Release Date

At this point, the next-generation 2024 Nissan Patrol is just a rumor. We are still waiting to hear something from the officials. On the other hand, our insiders suggest the new model could arrive already in the second half of the next year.
