Large family SUVs may not be as popular as compact crossovers, but the demand for capable family haulers is constantly growing. That’s why more and more carmakers are entering this segment. The competition is fierce and that’s always good news for buyers.

The number of high-quality family SUVs is pretty big these days, so we decided to bring up to you only the best ones:

2022 Hyundai Palisade

A few years ago, the Palisade amazed the automotive world with its impressive level of quality. These days, it is still considered one of the best family SUVs on the market. It is spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and very easy to drive.

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade brings minor updates only. A few things have been added to the list of standard equipment, particularly in terms of safety. For example, even the cheapest version of the SUV comes standard with blind-spot monitoring now.

Of course, the interior design remains the model’s strongest point. The build quality and materials are steps above compared to closest rivals, while we also like the fact that the third row accommodates three passengers. The SUV is powered by a capable 3.8-liter V8, which puts out around 291 horsepower.

2022 Buick Enclave

Buick’s flagship SUV comes with big updates for the 2022 models. The company decided to give it a mid-cycle refresh and for that occasion, a whole set of novelties has been prepared. The 2022 Buick Enclave looks better and brings way more advanced features

The first thing you’ll notice is the styling. This refresh brings typical mid-cycle novelties like new LED headlights and taillights, new wheels, new bumpers etc. Novelties can be found on the inside as well, especially at the center console. There, you can notice a new gear shifter, which replaces the old-school lever and makes the cabin look more upscale.

You may count on more standard features as well. Some of the highlights are wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a whole bunch of safety systems like front pedestrian braking, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.

2023 Kia Telluride

Just like its corporal sibling (Hyundai Palisade), the Telluride has also been around since 2019 and it is also one of the class leaders. However, Kia engineers are perfectly aware of the competition, so the 2023 Kia Telluride is already in the works and it will bring updates in various aspects.

From what we know so far, the focus will be on the styling. This should be a typical facelift, with aesthetical changes mostly at the front. Count on a new front fascia, new bumper and some headlights tweaks. The interior could come with minor updates as well, but we don’t expect much from this aspect.

2023 Kia Telluride

Despite the updates, the overall layout will certainly remain the same and we are perfectly fine with that. The Telluride is an amazing SUV, which offers plenty of passenger and cargo room, as well as a high level of comfort. It looks luxurious and upscale in every aspect, while the 291-hp V6 ensures a smooth and convenient ride.

2022 Ford Expedition

The new-generation Tahoe has just arrived and that alarmed Ford designers to refresh their player in the segment and make it a class leader once again. That’s why the 2022 Ford Expedition is coming with a lot of interesting novelties.

First of all, this will be a typical facelift, with most of the changes regarding exterior design. The test mule still wears a camouflage but we can clearly see that the front face is the main area that’s getting novelties. Slight styling revisions are expected on the inside as well.

2022 Ford Expedition

On the insider, we expect that the 2022 Ford Expedition will get a larger, vertically-oriented touchscreen, similar to the one found in the new Mustang Mach-E. Under the hood, we count on a new hybrid powertrain, with a max output of 430 horsepower, just like in the new F-150. Finally, an off-road version called Timberland is coming too, which all kinds of mechanical and visual upgrades.

2022 Chevy Tahoe

As we’ve just mentioned, this SUV has just been redesigned and we don’t believe that the 2022 Chevy Tahoe, which will represent the second production year, could come with bigger updates. Simply, the new model was accepted very well, both by experts and the crowd, so the is no need for early improvements.

This means that you may count on the same layout, which is based on GMs familiar T1 platform. This SUV is spacious and offers impressive cargo volume. Also, the new model finally features a decent interior quality, which wasn’t the case with the previous generation. The list of standard and available equipment is long.

2022 Chevy Tahoe

The powertrain lineup has always been one of Tahoe’s strongest points and the 2022 model will continue in the same way. The offer starts with the 355-hp 5.3-liter V8, while you can also opt for a bigger 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. This SUV also comes with a diesel version on the offer, with a 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 277 horses and 460 lb-ft of max torque.

2023 Audi Q7

The current generation of Audi’s biggest SUV has been around since 2015 but despite the age, it is still one of the best choices among luxury three-row SUVs. Simply, you get a fantastic combination of refinement and practicality, something you will hardly find in other places. That’s why we are pretty sure that the Ingolstadt company won’t rush with changes and that the 2023 Audi Q7 will remain largely unchanged.

Interior design is arguably the strongest point of this SUV. It looks quite futuristic, mainly because of its impressive tech features. Also, the build quality is excellent, as well as the sound insulation. The only drawback is that rivals usually offer more cargo space.

2023 Audi Q7

Under the hood, we expect that the 2023 Audi Q7 will continue with three familiar powertrain options. The base model should use a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. A 335-hp V6 is a more powerful alternative and it comes with a mild-hybrid setup as well. Finally, you can opt for the sporty SQ5, which comes with a 4.0-liter V8 and a max output of 500 horsepower.

2022 BMW X7

The 2022 BMW X7 is already ready for its launch and from what we know so far, it won’t feature too many changes. We are only about to see minor tweaks regarding the standard and available equipment but the overall layout will certainly remain the same.

That means you may count on one of the best full-size luxury SUVs on the market, which stands out in many ways. We like its interior design and comfortable ride, as well as a long list of standard and available equipment. Still, the X7’s main strength is handling, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size.

2022 BMW X7

Besides handling, this SUV also offers an impressive powertrain range. The offer starts with the excellent 335-hp turbo inline-six, while you can also opt for the M50i, which comes with a 4.4-lite V8 and 523 horsepower. Finally, there is the Alpina XB7 with the same engine but more power, which goes all-away up to 612 horses.

2023 Toyota Sequoia

The current generation of Toyota’s largest SUV has been around since 2007. So, it’s not hard to conclude that it desperately needs changes. According to the latest reports, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia will finally come completely redesigned.

We expect that this redesign will bring significant improvements in all aspects. Of course, the new model will be based on the upcoming Tundra, and the two models are expected to share mechanics almost entirely. This includes the engines too. We believe that the base Sequoia would feature a 3.4-liter V6 turbo, while the hybrid version would be offered as well.

2023 Toyota Sequoia

This SUV needs big updates on the inside as well. This particularly refers to the dashboard design and overall interior quality, which should be way better. We can say the same for tech features, particularly infotainment technologies. On the other hand, the amount of passenger space should remain similar, considering that the current model is already among the biggest SUVs on the market.

2023 Cadillac Escalade-V

The new Escalade has just arrived and it looks amazing. It has brought improvements in every aspect, especially when it comes to interior refinement. However, it lacks a high-performance version to compete with German rivals, and that’s why the 2023 Cadillac Escalade-V is in the works.

This will be a high-performance version of the full-size SUV and as you may presume, the key upgrade will be the engine. That should be a supercharged version of the well-known LT4 engine, probably the same one that powers the CT5-V Blackwing, which puts out a total output of 668 horsepower and 659 pound-feet of torque.

2023 Cadillac Escalade-V

Besides the new engine, this version should also come with a few more upgrades, regarding suspension and brakes. Naturally, we also expect to see a lot of new styling details, which will accentuate the model’s high-performance character.

2023 Honda Pilot

In our eyes, the 2023 Honda Pilot is definitely one of the most anticipated three-row SUVs in the near future. The famous family hauler is waiting for the redesign and we have no doubt that the new version will once again find its place among the top models of the class. We see it as the best family SUV on our list.

The test model has already been spotted on the road and despite the camouflage, we know what to expect from it. Styling-wise, the new model should take a lot of inspiration from the recently-updated Ridgeline, which in practice means a bolder and more aggressive appearance.

Mechanically, the new model should have a lot in common with its premium sibling – Acura MDX. The luxury SUV has just arrived and it has brought improvements in every aspect. So, we presume the Pilot will do the same. That refers to better driving dynamics, a higher level of comfort and general improvement regarding ride quality.

The new model is expected to gain more than two inches in wheelbase, which would be highly beneficial in terms of interior space. Like the current model, the 2023 Honda Pilot will come with three rows of seats. We also expect that the cargo area will be even more generous than the current one.

2023 Honda Pilot

Under the hood, we count on a good-old 3.5-liter V6, which features a max output of 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Engine comes in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A turbo V6 version isn’t expected, but we do believe that the new model could come in a hybrid version. However, we are still waiting for the official confirmation.
