2023 Nissan Rogue: Hybrid On the Way?

0

The Rogue has been one of Nissan’s bestsellers for years and we have no doubt that, after the recent redesign, things will continue in the same way. The 2023 Nissan Rogue will represent the second production year of the new generation and, therefore, it seems natural to expect no bigger changes. However, we can hear rumors about the addition of a hybrid version, based on the company’s new ePOWER technology. However, the officials are still quiet on this matter, so we suggest you take these rumors with reserve.

On the other hand, the rest of the vehicle will remain the same. We are about to see a familiar layout. This SUV has a lot of great things to offer, starting from the spacious and pretty luxurious cabin, long list of standard and available equipment, comfortable and relaxed ride, good fuel economy etc.

With updates or not, the 2023 Nissan Rogue should hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Nissan Rogue Design

Design-wise, things will definitely remain the same. The 2023 Nissan Rogue will represent the second production of the current generation, which came with a lot of interesting changes. The new model still rides on the familiar CMF platform but the architecture has been updated significantly. We particularly like the new suspension setup, which provides more comfort but at the same time, it makes handling more engaging. The latter also comes from the significantly improved steering, which is now way more direct than before.

Visually, there is nothing to expect from the second production year, except for maybe a new color option or something like that. The overall layout will certainly remain the same and we are about to see the same styling, which follows the brand’s latest design language, based on the latest iteration of the V-motion grille.

Interior

The Rogue has always been characterized by a nice interior but the new cabin design is a significant upgrade over the previous generation. It looks way more upscale, thanks to finer materials, better build quality and more tech features. Besides the quality, the recent redesign has also brought improvements in terms of ergonomics and as a result, the driving position is excellent.

The cabin is spacious and comfortable. Thanks to quite generous 106.5 inches in wheelbase, there is plenty of room for taller passengers in both rows of seats. Furthermore, Nissan traditionally offers some of the best seats in the class, which are massive and supportive.

The cargo area is another strong point of this crossover. You may count on up to 36.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total volume goes up to 74.1 cubic feet. Those are some of the highest ratings in the class.

Features

A few new features are possible here and there, but most of the things are about to remain the same for the next year. Therefore, base models should come equipped with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, a four-speaker stereo, satellite radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Higher trim levels will offer much more, things like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touch screen, wireless device charging, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two second-row USB ports, navigation, and a stereo with six or 10 speakers, as well as remote start, proximity keyless entry, a panoramic moonroof, and dual- or tri-zone automatic climate control.

The same thing goes for safety features. All models should come standard with automatic high beams, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, rearview camera, lane departure warning etc. The list of options should include a surround-view camera, lane keep assist, head-up display, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition etc.

2023 Nissan Rogue Engines

The 2023 Nissan Rogue will continue with a familiar 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 181 horsepower and offers relatively decent performance. It comes in pair with a CVT gearbox, while its strongest point is good fuel economy, which goes around 30 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway, which is impressive for this segment.

Some sources also speculate about the hybrid version. We presume that if this happens, Nissan would introduce its new ePOWER system, which includes a little bit unusual setup. The car is driven by electric motors, while a gasoline engine works as a generator, so the overall experience is the same as in an all-electric car. Some even speculate about the plug-in hybrid powertrain from Mitsubishi, but we don’t find this scenario very likely.

2023 Nissan Rogue Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Nissan Rogue will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 27.000 dollars. The competition in this segment is extremely tough, while some of the segment leaders are models like Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester etc.
