2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Is Getting Ralliart Version!?

The 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander will represent the third production year of the current generation and normally, that’s still early for a mid-cycle refresh or other major changes. However, the Japanese manufacturer is allegedly preparing a big novelty. The officials are still quiet but it looks like the high-performance version with the Ralliart moniker. This version would come with all kinds of upgrades, including a more powerful hybrid powertrain.

On the other hand, the rest of the lineup would probably remain unchanged. We expect to see a familiar design, features and overall approach. In practice, this means a spacious compact crossover, with three rows of seats and a pretty luxurious cabin. Furthermore, the list of standard and available equipment is pretty generous, while there are also two quite capable and efficient powertrain options.

Despite the possible addition of a new high-performance version, we don’t believe that the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander could arrive much earlier than usual.

New 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Ralliart on the Way!?

Without any doubt, this is the most anticipated novelty for the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander. Although we are still waiting for the official confirmation, there are many sources that claim this is a certain thing. The Ralliart moniker will activate once again, reportedly, this time for a high-performance SUV.

The company already presented a concept version, called Vision Ralliart, which brought significant styling upgrades, so we presume it would be used as an inspiration for the production version. Mechanical upgrades are expected too, especially in terms of suspension setup and further chassis reinforcements.

As for the powertrain, we count on an upgraded version of the familiar hybrid system, based on a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The new system would, reportedly, feature 286 horsepower, a 38-horsepower boost compared to the standard plug-in hybrid version.

Other than the new high-performance version, we don’t expect to see significant changes. Instead, we are about to see a typical carryover model, with the same design introduced less than two years ago. The new generation shares most of the parts with the Nissan Rogue and benefits from notably improved ride quality, which is on the soft side and provides a smooth and comfortable drive in a combination with a bit of athleticism.

On the inside, the new Outlander looks better than it ever had, with high-quality materials and a pretty elegant dashboard design, which looks very attractive in a combination with numerous tech features. Traditionally, the Outlander is one of the rare three-row compact SUVs on the market and even though the third row isn’t all that spacious, it offers additional functionality other models in the class don’t. There is also a generous cargo area, with 11.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seats, 33.5 cubic feet behind the second row 79.7 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. This total volume offers more than you get from some of the key rivals, such as the Toyota RAV4 or VW Tiguan.

It’s possible to see a few novelties in this aspect, but we are pretty sure that the list of standard equipment won’t be significantly different compared to the 2023 model. Therefore, the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander should come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, two USB ports, voice recognition, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Also, we count on available features like a 9-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless device charging, a 10-speaker Bose premium stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio and two rear USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, proximity keyless entry, tri-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a panoramic sunroof.

2024 Mitsubishi Outlander Engines

Other than the new high-performance version, the rest of the lineup will continue with two familiar powertrain options. Base models will continue with the good-old 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque and comes coupled with a CVT. It returns around 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, which are decent ratings for the class.

Also, there is the aforementioned plug-in hybrid, with 248 horsepower. Of course, this model offers better fuel economy, which goes around 65 mpg-equivalent. Furthermore, the system includes a massive 20-kWh battery pack, which ensures 42 miles of range in the EV mode, which is on par with the RAV4 Prime.

Release Date and Price

Despite the potential updates, we don’t expect that the 2024 Mitsubishi Outlander could arrive much earlier than usual. As for the price, base models should go around 30.000 dollars, while versions with plug-in hybrid powertrains should start at around 41.000 dollars. As for the new Ralliart, we estimate that the price will start at over 50,000 dollars.
