The current generation of the world’s best-selling crossover has been around since 2018 and if we can trust the latest reports, it will remain in production for a few more years. Most likely, the 2024 Toyota RAV4 will be the final production year of the current, fifth generation. Considering the updates that came with the 2022 model, we are pretty sure it won’t feature bigger changes, though there is always room for smaller-scale updates, such as new features, new color options, appearance package etc.
Still, the overall layout will remain the same. The RAV4 will continue to deliver a little bit of everything, which is probably the main reason for its huge popularity. This crossover is spacious, comfortable and easy to drive. Of course, the list of standard and available tech and safety features is pretty impressive, while we also like the powertrain lineup very much. It includes gasoline, a hybrid and a plug-in hybrid unit.
As bigger changes probably won’t happen, we presume that the 2024 Toyota RAV4 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2023.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, this will probably be the final production year of the current generation. Therefore, it’s hard t expect any bigger changes. The 2022 update brought a couple of novelties, including new LED headlights, new wheels etc. Also, the 2023 model came with the new Woodland Edition, which comes with a couple of upgrades, such as bronze wheels, roof rails and similar things. So, the best 2024 RAV4 could bring are minor updates, such as new color options, or a new appearance package.
Mechanically, things won’t change. This crossover will continue in the same way, featuring a chassis and suspension setup that’s rather on the soft side. The RAV4 is comfortable and easy to drive, though it’s not the most athletic model in the class for sure.
On the inside, this SUV is a mix of quality and practicality. We like the simple dashboard design, which is wrapped with quality materials and comes with a couple of pretty nice tech features. Also, the build quality is good, while higher trim levels can come with pretty nice upgrades, such as stitching, exclusive color schemes etc.
The amount of passenger space is pretty generous, even though newer rivals like Hyundai Tucson offer even more. The front seats are massive and supporting, and accommodate adults with ease. The second row is also pretty spacious and allows this car to accommodate three adult passengers in the back with ease.
The cargo area is typical for the class. You may count on about 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row and nearly 70 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
Of course, there’s always a chance to see a couple of new things on the list of standard equipment. Still, we are pretty sure that most things will remain the same as in the current model. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker stereo, voice recognition, Bluetooth, and a USB port.
The current model also comes with a wide palette of available features. Some of the highlights are goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, an 11-speaker JBL premium stereo, navigation, wireless device charging, four additional USB ports, HD Radio, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, a moonroof, a panoramic roof, a universal garage door opener, ambient interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and a household-style power outlet.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Engines
We count on three familiar powertrain options on the offer. Base models will continue with a 2.5-liter inline-four gasoline engine, which puts out around 203 horsepower and comes coupled with 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine offers decent performance, while the average fuel economy goes around 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, which is excellent for a compact SUV.
The hybrid model will carry on with a system that combines a four-cylinder, Atkinson-cycle engine with a couple of electric motors, for a total output of 219 horsepower. The engine comes in pair with a CVT and besides good driving dynamics, it also offers impressive fuel economy. You may count on about 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.
Finally, there is the plug-in hybrid, known as the RAV4 Price. That model features a max output of 302 horsepower, which is enough to hit 60mph in just 5.7 seconds. Also, you may count on 42 miles of the all-electric range.
2024 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Toyota RAV4 sometime late in 2023, with the starting price of around 28.000 dollars. The Honda CR-V, which is about to get a full redesign for 2023, will remain the key competitor.
