2024 Audi Q9: Audi Is Finally Entering Full-Size Segment!?

0

Unlike Mercedes-Benz and BMW, the Ingolstadt company doesn’t compete in the full-size SUV segment, but that’s about to change soon. According to the latest reports, the 2024 Audi Q9 will finally arrive the next year, after so many years of rumors of speculations. It looks like something is finally happening for real and that the new model is already in development. This will be the company’s largest and most prestigious SUV, so we expect to see nothing but lots of luxury.

As for the overall design approach, Audi won’t bring any radical changes or something we wouldn’t expect. Instead, this model will rely mostly on proven technologies, and come as a big upgrade of models like Q7 and Q8, which compete in the mid-size segment. This model would ride on the same platform and share a lot of technologies, including the powertrain. Still, it will be distinctive enough to stand out from the crowd with its design and luxury.

2024 Audi Q9 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, although a brand-new model, the 2024 Audi Q9 won’t bring any significant surprise, in terms of mechanics and overall design approach. Instead, we are about to see a vehicle that relies on a good-old MLB platform, which will get its last update soon and remain in production for another cycle, until it gets replaced by all-electric vehicles completely. So, it’s easy to presume that the new full-size SUV will have a lot in common with the Q7, and we presume it could bring further upgrades regarding suspension and chassis setup, to make the ride even smoother.

This will be a full-size SUV, which will compete with models like GLS and X7, and therefore, we expect to see similar proportions. For example, the wheelbase will definitely go over 120 inches, which should ensure a spacious and comfortable interior, but we will get on that a little bit later. As for the styling, it’s still early for details, but there are various reports on the internet that include rendering photos, which seem to take a lot of inspiration from the company’s all-electric lineup, from models like e-tron.

Interior

Considering the company’s reputation for building high-quality and elegant interiors, we have big expectations from the new 2024 Audi Q9. It should take everything to the next level and offer further upgrades in terms of materials and the level of craftsmanship. All that would come together with the company’s well-known aesthetical approach that includes conservative design solutions, which look great in a combination with the state-of-the-art tech features this company traditionally offers.

One of the biggest benefits of such a large SUV would be generous passenger space. Thanks to the long wheelbase and respectable overall dimensions, the 2024 Audi Q9 would offer a third row that accommodates adults with ease, which isn’t the case with the company’s only three-row crossover at the moment, the Q7. Furthermore, the cargo area should also offer respectable capacity.

2024 Audi Q9 Engines

As mentioned, Audi is working on the last generation of its models with internal combustion. The new models of this kind will be coming for just another few years, so we don’t expect significant changes regarding powertrain options. In the case of the 2024 Audi Q9, the offer could be similar to the Q7 and Q8 engines, though some of the units could get a power boost or other kinds of upgrades.

All in all, base models would probably come equipped with a 3.0-liter turbo V6, which currently puts out around 335 horsepower. Higher trim levels would be offered with a familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which is available in a couple of variants regarding output. For example, there is the SQ8 model with 500 horsepower, but we could also see a variant with the RS badge, which would probably offer over 600 horsepower.

All engines would come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Audi Q9 Hybrid

We also expect to see the new 2024 Audi Q9 equipped with a hybrid powertrain. The Ingolstadt company already has a couple of systems that would fit this SUV perfectly, but we won’t be surprised if we see further upgrades. Currently, both systems are based on a 3.0-liter turbo V6 engine, in variants with 376 and 450 horsepower, but we could easily see a system based on a V8 engine as well. Such a system is already available in models like Porsche Cayenne, and we are sure it would offer way over 600 horsepower.

2024 Audi Q9 Release Date and Price

We are still waiting for the officials to hear more about the 2024 Audi Q9, but rumors suggest it will hit the market already in the next year. In terms of price, we expect base models to go somewhere between 75.000 and 80.000 dollars.
