2023 BMW X7: Release Date, Changes, and Price

0

The Bavarian full-size crossover has been around for a while and it looks like it’s time for updates. The 2023 BMW X7 is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh and from what we can see, this update will include all kinds of different novelties. At this point, the test mule still wears camouflage, so we may presume that most of the changes will be in terms of the styling, though updates in other aspects are coming as well.

One of the most interesting novelties will be the addition of the 2023 BMW X7 XM model. This will be an ultra-high-performance version of the SUV, with 750 horsepower. What’s also interesting is that this model will feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which means it will be the first-ever electrified car from the M division.

Considering the updates, we presume that the 2023 BMW X7 release date will be scheduled for an earlier date than usual, though still within the second half of the year.

2023 BMW X7 Render

2023 BMW X7 Design

Of course, the core of this mid-cycle update will be the exterior changes. At this point, the test model still wears a camouflage, so we can talk about details. However, there is a pretty big number of rendering photos that circulate on the network and all of them suggest similar types of changes. Naturally, most of the changes would come to the front end and according to these photos, we will see a new design of headlights, which involves a couple of narrow stripes on each side. Furthermore, we would see a bigger and bolder grille, as well as a more aggressive bumper.

Naturally, we expect that 2023 BMW X7 changes will come to the rear end as well, in the form of new taillights, rear bumper etc. Finally, count on updates like new wheels, new colors and similar things. On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the car should remain pretty much the same.

Interior

The cabin design of the current model has often been criticized for a too conventional design approach and this will change with the 2023 BMW X7. This update will bring significant updates on the inside as well, a completely new dashboard design. At this point, the dash is still completely covered, but we expect that the Bavarian carmaker will use the same design approach as in the new iX crossover. This means we would see the same combination of the digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen, among other design solutions. The center console should be revised as well.

On the other hand, the overall cabin layout won’t change. We expect to see the same seating configurations and the same amount of space. This crossover comes with three rows of seats and while the first two rows are spacious and comfortable, the third row is slightly tighter but still quite functional. The cargo area offers around 12.8-cubic feet behind the third row, 48.6 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 90.4 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

2023 BMW X7 Engines

Things under the hood won’t change, at least when it comes to standard versions. So, base models will continue with the well-known 3.0-liter inline-six, which puts out around 335 horsepower. It has enough power to move this large SUV with authority and we presume that most buyers would be satisfied with this powertrain.

For those who are looking for something peppier, the M50i will remain on the offer too. This version comes with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which features a max output of 523 horsepower. With all that power, you may count on 0-60 mph spring in just 4.5 seconds.

Finally, there is the Alpina XB7 model, with a max output of 612 horsepower.

BMW XM

The biggest novelty for the next year will be the 2023 BMW XM. This will be a new range-topping model, which will come with all kinds of upgrades. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the powertrain. This version will feature a plug-in hybrid setup, based on the twin-turbo V8 engine. The gasoline unit will come in pair with an electric motor, and the whole system will offer a combined output of 750 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque.

The system will also include a 20-kWh battery pack, which should provide a decent all-electric range. Besides the powertrain, we count on exclusive styling details, a few mechanical upgrades and similar tweaks that will make this version stand out from the crowd.

We expect that the launch date will be scheduled for the second half of the year. When it comes to the 2023 BMW X7 price, we expect that base models will cost around 77.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Mercedes-Benz GLS, Lincoln Navigator etc.
