2023 BMW X8 M Rumors, Price, Release Date and Expectations

0

Although the officials are still quiet, unofficial reports suggest that the Bavarian carmaker is actually working on the new flagship model, which will come in the form of the X8, which should be a kind of a coupe version of the X7, which has just been updated. Along with standard versions of the new SUV, we also expect to see a performance variant of the SUV, which would come as the 2023 BMW X8 M. The exact details about this model are still unavailable, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate.

Of course, some of the things are pretty easy to predict. For example, we are pretty sure that the 2023 BMW X8 M would get a typical M treatment, which would include both visual and mechanical upgrades. Still, the most important upgrade would be the engine. At this point, it looks like the new performance SUV could come with a hybrid powertrain.

Many believe that the 2023 BMW X8 M could arrive already by the end of this year.

2023 BMW X8 M Redesign

Of course, this model would be heavily based on the standard X8 model, which is expected to come based on the more conventional X7 model. The overall design would be pretty similar, though the new SUV would come with a bit of a coupe treatment on the rear end, with a sloping roof design. On the other hand, the front end should look the same, with the same recently updated headlights and grille.

The 2023 BMW X8 M would also get a typical M treatment. This means a lot of upgrades, whether it’s about mechanics or aesthetics. Mechanically, we would see an upgraded suspension, as well as bigger brakes and other chassis reinforcements. On the other hand, the visual appearance would be accentuated with lots of sporty details, such as unique wheels, bumpers, color options etc.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, we count on a lot of similarities with the X7. Moreover, the only difference would come in the back, where the sloping roof design would limit the headroom and cargo area. Other than that, we would see the same design, including the new dashboard design, which came with the recent update. The new dash comes with a couple of new screens, it the same fashion the BMW’s all-electric models do. There is a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a massive 15-inch infotainment screen and both come in a kind of an integrated unit.

Once again, the cabin would get treatment from the M division, which would include things like upgraded seats, unique color schemes, exclusive materials and similar things. Other than that, we don’t expect bigger surprises.

2023 BMW X8 M Engine

Naturally, the most interesting part of this vehicle would be its powertrain. At this point, it looks like the 2023 BMW X8 M would come with a hybrid powertrain. More precisely, that would be a plug-in hybrid powertrain, the same one that was presented in the XM concept. That system combines the well-known 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which would come in a combination with an electric motor, for a total output of 750 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. Besides plenty of power, this system would also feature a decent battery pack, which would ensure around 30 miles of the all-electric range.

Other sources suggest a little bit more conservative approach. In that scenario, the 2023 X8 M would feature the same powertrain as the XB7 Alpina, which means the most powerful version of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. This unit has been upgraded recently and now puts out around 630 horsepower.
