2023 BMW X6 and X6M Get Facelift and More Horsepower

0

Despite all the lack in terms of practicality, the X6 has always been one of the most desirable luxury SUVs on the market. The current generation is no exception, even though it’s been a while since we saw a redesign. Still, the company wants to retain that state and therefore, the 2023 BMW X6 will receive a facelift. The test mule has already been spotted and we have big expectations from the updated version.

Of course, the styling will be one of the most important updates but that won’t be the only significant novelty. We also count on big updates inside the cabin, particularly in the form of a new dashboard design. Furthermore, we also count on big upgrades under the hood, where the inline-six will get a significant power boost, while the V8 will come packed with a mild-hybrid setup.

The 2023 BMW X6 should hit the market later this year, though a more precise date is still not available.

2023 BMW X6 Design

The current generation of the X6 is modern in many aspects. It rides on the company’s latest CLAR platform and shares most of the parts with the X5. Therefore, it’s no wonder it offers pretty impressive handling and a very high level of athleticism. The styling also looks nice, but the company needs more than that to retain the sales numbers. That’s why the focus of this update will be on aesthetics.

The test mule has been spotted and even though it still wears a heavy camouflage, we can predict some of the most basic things. Of course, most of the changes will happen at the front, where we expect to see a bigger and more massive grille, along with a more aggressive front bumper with larger air intakes. We also expect to see new headlight internals, while the rear end might come with a few revisions as well.

Interior

The 2023 BMW X6 and X6M won’t come with exterior updates only. We are about to see the new cabin design as well. This particularly refers to the dashboard, which will come with new digital infotainment and instrument cluster screens. They will be designed in the same manner as the units found in the all-electric iX, so we have no doubt they will have a significant impact on the model’s visual appeal. Further modifications to the center console are possible as well.

On the other hand, the overall cabin layout will remain largely the same. You may count on the same seating configuration and less practicality and functionality compared to the X5, due to the sloping roof design. The rear seat headroom is smaller, just like the cargo area, which offers around 27.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 59.6 cubic feet behind the front seats.

Features

Of course, novelties in this aspect will certainly come. At this point, we still don’t know the details but the new screens definitely won’t be the only options to come. We expect the list of standard equipment to be expanded, even though the current model is already pretty generous in this aspect.

For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like push-button start, proximity keyless entry, navigation, five USB ports, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 10-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, you can get upgrades like 16- and 20-speaker audio systems, quad-zone automatic climate control and remote start.

Big novelties are coming under the hood as well. The base 3.0-liter inline-six is about to get a 40-hp power boost. So, the max output won’t be 335 horses anymore, but 375. Also, the M50i will be renamed the M60i. It will keep the same 4.4-liter V8, as well as the same output (523 horsepower) but it will come with a mild-hybrid setup, which should improve fuel economy.

When it comes to the 2023 BMW X6M, we are still waiting for the officials. The current version comes with a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, which puts out 600 horsepower. Some sources speculate about the power boost, which would increase the output to 630 horsepower.
