According to the latest reports, this model will come in the next year, and just like the pickup, it will come in the 2023 Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 variant first. This will be the most expensive version of the SUV, while the rest of the lineup is expected to debut later, probably during 2024.
At this point, we already know a lot about this all-electric SUV. Of course, most of the things will be the same as in the pickup model, both things will be pretty different as well. Compared to the truck version of Edition 1, the SUV will feature less power and a smaller battery, due to the shorter wheelbase. As a result, it will also feature a slightly shorter range.
2023 Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 will share most of its parts with the recently introduced pickup version of the new Hummer. The chassis is the same, as well as the suspension setup. However, the SUV features a shorter wheelbase and different overall dimensions.
Of course, there is a different body style. This model will come in a typical SUV layout, but the design language will be the same. What’s interesting about the 2023 Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 is that it will feature less power compared to the pickup. It will feature the same number of electric motors but the total output will have 170 horsepower less. This SUV will be rated at 830 horsepower and that should be enough to ensure 0-60 sprint in about 3.5 seconds.
The battery will also be smaller, because of the shorter wheelbase. The exact capacity is still a mystery, but we know that the max range will probably go around 300 miles. Of course, GM will use the same Ultium battery technology, which allows super-fast charging that goes all-away up to 800 volts.
Just like the pickup, the SUV will also be available in more basic variants. As we already mentioned, they will arrive later and will feature less power and a smaller battery. Most likely, the max output will go around 625 horsepower, while the max range will go around 250 miles. A bigger battery that provides 300 miles of range should be optional in base models.
2023 Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 Release Date and Price
We are still waiting for a more precise launch date but we know for sure that the 2023 Hummer EV SUV Edition 1 will hit the market sometime in the next year. When it comes to the price, it will be the same as in for the pickup Edition 1 model, which means $105.595. When it comes to the competition, we presume it will become numerous in the next few years, as lots of new electric SUVs are about to come. Still, key rivals will be other rugged electric SUVs, such as Rivian R1S, Bollinger B1 etc.
