2023 Nissan Murano Redesign: What We Know and What We Expect

0

The current generation of Nissan’s mid-size crossover has been around since 2014 and there is no doubt that the full redesign is around the corner. The company has already redesigned models like Rogue and Pathfinder, and expects that this particular model will come completely new as the 2023 Nissan Murano. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation, but our reliable sources claim this is a certain thing.

So, if the 2023 Nissan Murano is about to come completely redesigned, we have no doubt it will bring a whole lot of novelties. We count on a completely new design, both in terms of mechanics and aesthetics. On the other hand, the engine will probably remain the same, but it will come coupled with a new transmission. Of course, the interior will be all new as well, equipped with all kinds of new tech features. We believe that the new model could hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year.

If it happens, the 2023 redesign will bring a lot of novelties. However, one of the interesting things is that the new generation probably won’t get an all-new architecture. Just like the recently redesigned Pathfinder, which continued to ride on the same good-old D platform. We expect the same from the new Murano. Interestingly, all three generations featured 111.2 inches in wheelbase, so it would be a surprise to see the same from the next generation as well. On the other hand, the overall proportions will probably change slightly.

Despite that we won’t see an all-new platform, the 2023 Nissan Murano’s architecture will come with a lot of updates. For example, we count on a completely new chassis and suspension setup. Another thing that, we feel, desperately needs improvement is steering. We hope that the new model will be better to drive.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, we already mentioned that there is a big chance to once again see a 111.2-inch wheelbase. The overall proportions could change, but not by much and the overall layout will certainly remain the same.

Once again, we will see a two-row mid-size crossover but this time with the completely new styling. Of course, Nissan will implement its latest design language, which has been already presented with the aforementioned SUVs. The front end should borrow a lot of styling solutions from the new Pathfinder, while some sources also suggest a bit of a sloping roof, which would definitely make this crossover more appealing to younger generations.

Interior

We’ve just mentioned that the 2023 Nissan Murano could easily feature the same or similar dimensions, which indicates a similar amount of interior space as well. The current generation is already pretty generous with space, so we don’t expect to see significant improvements in the new model. On the other hand, the cargo area would certainly use a little bit more space.

The amount of space will remain similar but on the other hand, we count on completely new aesthetics. The current cabin, especially the dashboard, looks a little bit old. So, the 2023 Murano should bring a completely new shape, in a similar fashion as the bigger sibling did. Along with more attractive aesthetics, we will also see improvements regarding materials. Finally, the Japanese manufacturer will introduce new tech features, such as a bigger infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, large head-up display etc.

Under the hood, the 2023 Nissan Murano will most likely carry on in the same way. This means that we can count on a familiar 3.5-liter V6. It currently puts out around 260 horsepower, but the new generation could bring some power increase. On the other hand, a big change will be in terms of transmission. The current, not particularly inspiring CVT gearbox will be replaced with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which should have a highly positive impact on the overall driving experience.

Some sources also speculate about an electrified version. At this point, the officials are still quiet, so we will take this with a dose of a reserve.

2023 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price

We believe that the 2023 Nissan Murano could arrive sometime in the second half of the next year. When it comes to the price, base models will probably go around 33.000 dollars, while the key competitors should be models like Ford Edge, Chevy Blazer, Honda Passport etc.
