2022 Chevy Suburban Release date, Interior, Diesel, Colors, SS

Second production years are usually about minor tweaks only, and we are pretty sure that the 2022 Chevy Suburban won’t be an exception. The recent redesign was really comprehensive and it has brought a full load of novelties and improvements. The new generation is better in every aspect compared to its predecessor. Still, we should entirely neglect rumors that can be heard these days, which speculate about the possible performance version of the truck, which could bring back the famous SS badge.

From the buyer’s perspective, not a single thing will change. The Suburban will continue to offer its familiar qualities, such as super-spacious cabin, impressive amount of cargo space, long list of standard features and three capable engine options. When it comes to drawbacks, it’s hard to find a bigger one, even though certain experts thing the cabin quality could be better. We find it more than decent for the class.

As bigger changes probably won’t happen, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Chevy Suburban will arrive sometime late in the year.

2022 Chevy Suburban Redesign

The recent redesign has brought a lot of novelties. As the second production year, the 2022 Chevy Suburban should carry on in the same way, with a familiar design that is based on a new T1 platform. This SUV is surpisingly easy to drive, though it definitely doesn’t like tight streets and places where superb maneuverability is required. On the other side, the independent rear suspension provides a good combination of engaging handling and comfortable ride.

As we’ve just mentioned, there are rumors that suggest we could see a performance version of the truck. According to them, this model would come with the famous SS badge on the grill and with a plethora of modifications. We would expect to see things like stiffer suspension, upgraded brakes, chassis reinforcement and a load of exclusive styling details. However, you should remain reserved about this model, considering that the officials are still quiet.

Interior

This aspect definitely won’t bring any changes. Chevy usually doesn’t practice interior updates during a production cycle, especially not for the second production year. Also, the current cabin looks nice. Some critics are slightly negative about the cabin quality, but we find materials and fit&finish really good. Also, the dashboard features a clean design, while a load of tech goodies makes it look even more upscale.

More importantly, this cabin is practical and functional. With over 134 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that all three rows accommodate adults with ease. Even the third row offers more than 35 inches of legroom, which is more than enough for a comfortable ride, even on long journeys.

The cargo area is even more impressive. You may count on 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its third-row seats, 93.8 cubic feet with these seats folded, and 144.7 cubic feet. These numbers make the Suburban an absolute class-lead, along with its corporal twin, GMC Yukon XL.

Features

There is no doubt that the next year could bring a couple of new things to the list of standard equipment. Still, we don’t expect to see anything significant. After all, the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with things like tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, a 10.2-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, eight USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, satellite radio, and six speakers.

If you’re willing to pay extra, you can get numerous options. Some of the highlights are goodies like power-retractable side steps, a power liftgate, sunroof, a navigation system, nine- and 10-speaker stereos, wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens.

2022 Chevy Suburban Engines

Things under the hood will probably remain the same. The current model comes with three familiar units in the offer. Base models use a 5.3-liter V8, which is good for about 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. If you prefer something more capable, a 6.2-liter engine, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. The rumored SS version would probably come with an upgraded version of this engine. Still, we won’t talk about numbers at this moment.

Finally, there is a recently-introduced diesel version, which uses a 3.0-liter V6, with a max output of 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Depending on the version, the max towing capacity goes between 7.500 and 8.300 pounds.

2022 Chevy Suburban Release Date and Price

The lack of changes is a clear indicator that the launch date will be scheduled for a typical time of the year. That would be sometime in the last quarter of 2021, with the starting price of around 53.000 dollars. Of course, the Ford Expedition, which is about to receive a facelift soon, will remain the key rival.
