A few years ago, Chevy brought back the legendary Blazer but most of us were pretty disappointed with the new model, mainly because of the fact that the old model was a genuine off-roader, while the new one is no more than a typical modern crossover, which is much more a passenger car than a genuine SUV. It features a unibody platform and provides a car-like experience, which is the reason why many believe that GM missed the opportunity to leave a big mark in the SUV market again. On the other hand, Ford did a great job with the new Bronco.
Therefore, it’s no wonder that we can find a lot of rumors that suggest a comeback of the BoF Blazer in the near future. Allegedly, the new model will come with the legendary K5 moniker and we have already seen a couple of renderings on the network, particularly in the form of the 2023 Chevy K5 Blazer ZR2, which would be the most capable version of the SUV.

If you look at the rendering photos, it’s pretty obvious that the 2023 Chevy K5 Blazer ZR2 would take inspiration from Chevy’s pickups. While the model on the images looks a lot like the Silverado, we believe that the possible production version would rather feature a design based on Colorado. The new generation of the mid-size pickup is on the way and we presume it would serve as an excellent basis for the new SUV. The two models would share the platform, as well as many styling details, especially at the front.
According to rumors, the new 2023 K5 Blazer ZR2 would come in the famous two-door configuration, despite pretty big expected dimensions. Furthermore, we have no doubt it would come with a full load of off-road features. Practically, we would expect to see the same list of off-road hardware as in the Colorado ZR2, which would mean things like a two-speed transfer case, locking differentials, skid plates, off-road tires, high ground clearance and many more.

Interior
This aspect of the vehicle is a complete mystery. Still, if we take that the new model would use most parts from the new Colorado, we see no reason why it wouldn’t feature the same interior design as well. In any case, we count on a modern dashboard design, with lots of tech and convenience features. We also count on nice materials and pretty good build quality.
As we already mentioned, this should be a two-door SUV but if we consider the expected dimensions, the second row of seats should be pretty generous with space as well. Five adult passengers should be able to accommodate comfortably, while the cargo area should also offer some respectable numbers.
2023 Chevy K5 Blazer ZR2 Engine
When it comes to powertrain, we know for sure that next-generation Colorado will come with just one engine on offer. That is a 2.7-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque, which seems plenty enough for an off-roader of this type. We also count on a 10-speed automatic transmission, while the 4WD system will be standard too.
Some sources also speculate about the V8 engine. In that case, the 2023 Chevy K5 Blazer ZR2 would probably feature GM’s well-known 6.2-liter V8, with a max output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.

At this point, the 2023 Chevy K5 Blazer ZR2 is just a rumor and the actual chances to see it on the market are pretty small. Still, if it arrives, we estimate that the starting price would go somewhere between 50.000 and 60.000 dollars.
