2022 Chevy Trailblazer Review, Colors, Release date, Interior, RS, SS

The famous nameplate has been revived but the new model doesn’t have too many things in common with the original. Instead of being a traditional body-on-frame SUV, the new model is rather a small entry-level crossover. It debuted last year, so we are pretty sure that the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer will be no more than a carryover model. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see a couple of minor updates, such as new color options, new standard features, and similar things.

You may count on a small and affordable crossover, which has a lot of good things to offer. We like its spacious cabin and the styling, while the list of standard features is quite long. On the other side, the powertrain would use more power and refinement, while the ride should be smoother. We expect to see the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2022 Chevy Trailblazer review

2022 Chevy Trailblazer Redesign

One of the interesting things about this crossover is that it was originally planned for the Chinese market only. However, the management realized its potential and decided to offer it in North America as well. It rides on the company’s new VSS platform. This platform brings some quite interesting design solutions, including a CVT gearbox in the base model. With nearly 104 inches in wheelbase, the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer will remain among the biggest models in the class.

Styling changes definitely aren’t expected. This is a pretty fresh model, which follows the brand’s latest design language. You can easily notice that the front face takes a lot of inspiration from the current-generation Camaro, with all those sharp lines and narrow headlights. The rear end follows that design approach and also looks pretty nice. So, what we presume that could happen to the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer in terms of updates is nothing more than new color options in the offer.

Although it’s far from the Mazda CX-3 level of quality, this crossover still offers one of the nicest cabins in the class. You can see quality materials throughout the cabin and most surfaces are soft to the touch. This isn’t common in this segment. Also, the dashboard looks surprisingly modern and attractive if we look at other cabins of current Chevy models.

Besides the styling design, this cabin is also spacious. The front seats are spacious and also massive and supportive, so passengers in the first row may count on a high level of comfort. The second row is a little bit tighter but still offers enough room for adult passengers. Behind the rear seats, you will find around 25.3 cubic feet of cargo space, while the overall cargo capacity goes around 54.5 cubic feet. Those are above-average ratings for the class.

Since we are talking about the second production year, additions to the list of standard equipment are practically the only possible updates. However, we presume that even this aspect won’t bring too many changes. Most of the things will remain the same as in the current model, which offers a fairly long list of standard features. You may count on tech goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a four-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hot spot. Also, there are safety features like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.

Higher trim levels offer even more. You can pay extra for goodies like a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, HD Radio, satellite radio, two additional USB ports, a six- or seven-speaker stereo, wireless device charging, and many more. Upgrades in terms of safety are features like rear parking sensors, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control.

2022 Chevy Trailblazer Engines

The powertrain offered for the 2022 Chevy Trailblazer will remain the same. Base versions will continue with a 1.2-liter turbo-three, which puts out 137 horsepower and comes in pair with a CVT gearbox. That’s okay for daily commuting, but don’t expect anything more than that. The fuel economy goes around 28 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

In our opinion, the optional 1.3-liter engine, which also has a turbocharger and three cylinders, is a far better choice. With 155 horsepower, it offers notably better acceleration and also comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Furthermore, you can even get an all-wheel drive. The last but not least, this engine offers better fuel economy, which goes around 29 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

2022 Chevy Trailblazer Release Date and Price

The 2022 Chevy Trailblazer should hit the market sometime late in the year. Since there are no bigger changes to come, we presume the price will remain similar to the current model. So the base price is under 20.000 dollars. Some of the key competitors should be models like Hyundai Kona, Ford EcoSport, etc.
