2024 Nissan Murano Redesign: Rumors, Hybrid and Expectations

The current generation of Nissan’s mid-size two-row crossover is eight years old and despite it still stands well in some aspects, it desperately needs a redesign. Simply, most rivals are much younger and come with various advantages. That’s why everyone expects to see a completely new Murano in the near future. Some sources suggest that the next generation is about to debut in the second half of the next year, as the 2024 Nissan Murano. On the other hand, the officials are still quiet, so make sure to take the following paragraphs with reserve.

In any case, we have no doubt that this redesign would bring a lot of upgrades. Of course, new exterior and interior designs are the first things that come to mind, but we would also expect to see big upgrades under the hood. On the other hand, the new model would probably continue to ride on a familiar D platform, though with significant updates and upgrades.

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Nissan Murano redesign has been rumored. At this point, the officials are still quiet but that shouldn’t stop us from speculating. If the new generation is about to arrive in the next year, we expect to see a lot of changes. First of all, the new model will probably continue to ride on a familiar D platform. However, this architecture would be significantly updated and upgraded.

Naturally, one of the first things that come to mind is the chassis and suspension setup. The new model would come with improvements in this aspect, with more engaging handling, but with a smooth and comfortable ride as well. One of the biggest complaints about the current model goes to the steering, which should be improved with the upcoming redesign.

Of course, one of the biggest changes should be a completely new exterior design. We expect to see new aesthetics, based on the brand’s contemporary design language. This particularly refers to the front-end design, which should take a lot of inspiration from models like Rogue and Pathfinder. The new Murano should also continue with a lot of exclusive details and we presume that it will once again come with a little bit sleeker profile than most Nissan SUVs, which should help t stand out from the crowd.

When it comes to exterior dimensions, we don’t expect bigger changes. Changes will probably be minimal, while the wheelbase should remain the same. For reference, the current model features 111.2 inches between the axles.

If you look at the outgoing model, it still has a lot of things to offer and one of them is a nice interior quality. This means that we have big expectations from the new model in terms of materials, dashboard aesthetics etc. Speaking of aesthetics, the current model definitely looks a little bit outdated. So, we expect that the new generation will take some inspiration from the new Pathfinder, which looks really upscale in this aspect.

Nissan Pathfinder Interior

Traditionally, Nissan offers some of the best seats in this class, so we expect nothing less from the new generation. Considering that exterior dimensions are about to remain the same, we presume that the amount of passenger space will also remain pretty similar. That’s not a bad thing, as the current model is already pretty generous in both rows. On the other hand, we would like to see some improvements regarding cargo space. Namely, the current generation offers around 32.1 cubic feet of space behind the second row and a maximum of 67 cubic feet, which is below average for the segment.

2024 Nissan Murano Engines

When it comes to powertrain, the new generation will probably continue with the familiar V6 engine. The 3.5-liter unit currently comes in a variant with 260 horsepower but we presume that this overhaul would also bring some power increase. More importantly, we expect to see a new transmission. The current CVT should be replaced with a new 9-speed automatic, which should significantly improve the driving experience.

Some sources also speculate about the hybrid version. Allegedly, the company could implement its new hybrid technology, called ePower. In that case, the new 2024 Nissan Murano would feature a system that’s run by electric motors, while the gasoline engine works as a generator. Such a setup already debuted in some models for the European market.

2024 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Nissan Murano will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023, with a starting price of around 35.000 dollars. Models like Honda Passport, Chevy Blazer and Hyundai Santa Fe will remain key competitors.
