2024 Nissan Armada Redesign: What We Know So Far

0

If we can trust the latest reports, the 2024 Nissan Armada is about to bring all kinds of novelties. Allegedly, the Japanese manufacturer prepares a full redesign. At this point, most of the details are unknown but one of the aspects that seems like a certain thing is the engine. The good-old V will be replaced with something smaller and that would be a turbo V6. However, we still don’t know which unit will be chosen for the next-generation SUV.

The current generation arrived in 2016 and while that may not sound too old, considering the segment standards, the actual design dates from 2010, so there’s no doubt that the Armada desperately needs a redesign. It features not just a large and thirsty engine, but also comes with a pretty outdated interior design.

Therefore, we have pretty big expectations from the next generation, which should bring improvements in many aspects.

2024 Nissan Armada Gets New Engine

As we’ve just mentioned, one of the rare things that’s certain is the new engine. The 2024 Nissan Armada will replace the current V8 with something smaller and more efficient. Namely, the current generation uses a 5.6-liter V8, which is pretty capable but also uses a lot of fuel. The average fuel economy goes around 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway, which is one of the lowest ratings in the class.

The new engine will probably be a turbocharged V6. However, we still don’t know which exact unit will be used. One of the units that seem quite possible is a turbocharged version of the new 3.8-liter V6, which debuted in a naturally-aspirated form with the new Frontier. It’s still hard to predict the exact numbers, but we presume that the max output would be similar to the V8, but the turbocharger would ensure more torque, in a wider RPM range.

Besides the new engine, we also count on a new transmission. That would probably be the company’s familiar 9-speed automatic, which would replace the current 7-speed unit.

2024 Nissan Armada Redesign

Of course, this redesign will bring novelties in many other novelties as well, starting from the base design. From what we know so far, the 2024 Nissan Armada will continue to ride on a familiar F-Alpha platform, but this architecture will be significantly updated. This particularly refers to the suspension and chassis setup. According to some sources, the next generation will come standard with independent rear suspension, which would have a significant impact on the overall driving experience.

Naturally, we also expect to see a completely new exterior design. First of all, we believe that dimensions won’t change significantly. We count on the same or very similar wheelbase, while other measurements shouldn’t change much either.

Finally, there is the matter of the new styling. At this point, it is still early to talk about details, especially if we consider that the recent update has brought completely new, pretty attractive aesthetics. We believe that the changes in this aspect will be rather evolutionary.

Interior

This is one of the aspects where we expect to see big improvements. Simply, the current generation features a dashboard that looks pretty outdated. Therefore, we expect to see a completely new dash design, which has modern aesthetics and nicer materials. Of course, we also count on lots of new tech goodies, as well as on the latest generation of driver-assistance features.

As we’ve just mentioned, the new model won’t change much in terms of exterior dimensions. Therefore, we may expect a similar amount of passenger room as well. The current generation is already pretty decent in this aspect. It features two very spacious rows of seats, while the third row also offers enough room to accommodate adults. Nissan traditionally makes some of the best seats in the class, so we expect nothing less from the new model.

2024 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Nissan Armada will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. Details about the price are yet to come, but we don’t expect significant changes compared to the current generation, which starts at around 51.000 dollars. Of course, the competition remains the same, with models like Toyota Sequoia, GMC Yukon, Ford Expedition etc.
