2022 Nissan Armada Platinum, Release date, Price, Interior, Colors

The last year’s refresh has brought a lot of novelties and that leads us to the conclusion that the 2022 Nissan Armada probably won’t feature any bigger update. Simply, the 2021 model came with new styling, interior changes, more features and several other novelties, which should keep it fresh and competitive for a few more years, before we see a complete overhaul. Some sources suggest we could see a hi-performance version, but the officials are still quiet on this matter.

Some experts consider it outdated, due to the fact that it is practically a re-badged version of Nissan Patrol, which has been around since 2010. However, the fact is that this SUV still has a lot of good things to offer. For example, we like its powerful V8 engine and good driving dynamics. Furthermore, the cabin features pretty good overall quality, while the infotainment system is quite easy to use.

We expect that the 2022 Nissan Armada will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Nissan Armada Redesign

Design-wise, the recent refresh was pretty much all about aesthetics. On the other side, the mechanics remained largely the same. This generation has been around since 2016. However, it actually features an identical design to the current generation Patrol, which has been around since 2010. However, a decade-old design doesn’t stop this SUV from being pretty easy to drive, with engaging handling and solid driving dynamics.

When it comes to the styling, we have no doubt that the 2022 Nissan Armada will continue with all the novelties that came with the  2021 model year. There is a completely new front end, with a more futuristic approach, while the rest of the vehicle also included interesting updates.

Some rumors talk about the hi-performance version. However, we are pretty sure that the NISMO-badged model will remain reserved for buyers in the Middle East.

Interior

One of the best things about this SUV is that it benefits a lot from sharing interior parts with the premium Infiniti QX80. The two cabins look pretty similar and the Armada features build quality and materials that are actually on a higher level than you would expect from a mainstream vehicle. Also, keep in mind the recent update, which has brought a new center console. There is a new infotainment system, with a tablet-like touchscreen, new climate controls etc.

Besides good overall quality, this SUV also offers plenty of space. The first two rows are very generous, while the third row can also accommodate adults with ease. Traditionally, Nissan offers some of the best seats in the class. The cargo area also offers respectable numbers. You may count on about 16.5 cubic feet of space behind its third-row seats, 49.9 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 95.4 cubic feet of the total volume.

Features

After the massive 2021 update, we presume that the next year’s model won’t come with too many novelties in terms of standard and available equipment. The 2022 Nissan Armada should come standard with tech goodies like dual-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch touch screen, navigation, a six-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and wireless Apple CarPlay. If you’re willing to pay extra, you can get things like remote start, moonroof, a 13-speaker Bose audio system and a rear-seat entertainment system.

In terms of safety, all models come standard forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, driver drowsiness monitoring, adaptive cruise control, vehicle exit warning, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera.

2022 Nissan Armada Engine

Things under the hood will remain the same. You may count on a good-old 5.6-liter V8, which puts out around 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque. With such power, you may count on pretty good driving dynamics. The engine comes in pair with a seven-speed automatic transmission, which is smooth and shifts in a timely manner.

The engine is reliable and powerful but also pretty thirsty. You may count on about 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. That is below average for the class. When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 8.500 pounds, which is about average for the segment.

2022 Nissan Armada Release Date and Price

The lack of expected changes clearly indicates that the 2022 Nissan Armada will arrive in a typical time of the year, sometime in the last quarter of 2021. We don’t expect to see changes in terms of pricing either. The current model starts at around 49.000 dollars, while the range-topping versions can get pretty close to $70.000. The competition is tough, as it includes models like Ford Expedition, Chevy Tahoe, Toyota Sequoia etc.
