2022 Nissan Pathfinder Gets Fully Redesigned

0

The new generation of Nissan’s mid-size crossover is here and it brings a lot of novelties. After eight years, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder comes redesign and it’s now better in every aspect. We like how it looks, how it rides and how it feels from the inside. Big changes came under the hood as well, even though the engine remained the same.

All in all, the new version is way better in every aspect. Besides the new look, we really like how the new cabin looks like. It is modern and full of high-tech features, as spacious as before. Under the hood, the old CVT has been replaced and the new 9-speed automatic transmission makes a huge difference in terms of the ride quality, as well as in terms of towing capacity.

The new model has already been presented and it’s already available in some markets. The rest of the U.S. market should get it in the following weeks.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder Redesign

This redesign brings a lot of changes but also keeps some things the same. This particularly refers to the platform. Just like the previous generation, the new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder also rides on a good-old D platform. Moreover, even the wheelbase is the same. The new model is slightly shorter, but it’s wider and taller.

Even though the platform is the same, it has undergone significant upgrades and updates. This particularly refers to the chassis and suspension setup. The new model rides way better. It’s more comfortable and even though the handling isn’t particularly engaging, we don’t mind it at all.

Exterior

As we’ve just mentioned, the dimensions of the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder have been changed just slightly. On the other hand, the styling is all-new and it looks fantastic. The overall shape feels more upright and provides a more rugged, SUV-like appearance. The front end adopts the brand’s latest design language completely. You can see the latest iteration of the famous V-motion grille, while the modern LED headlights design makes the car looks quite futuristic.

The rear end looks pretty upright and we particularly like those massive glass surfaces, which make it look very premium. Just like other new Nissan models, this one also features that large “Pathfinder” badge across the tailgate.

Interior

Even though the exterior design has been improved significantly, the inside is what we like most. Simply, the new cabin is a completely different story compared to the previous generation, in the most positive way. We like the dashboard design very much. It is clean and full of high-quality materials. At the same time, a full load of tech features makes everything look even more upscale. Of course, the biggest highlights are a 9-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

The center console keeps a lot of things physical, including climate controls. Another thing that’s easy to be noticed is the new gear selector, which looks way better compared to the old CVT lever.

We haven’t tested the new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder yet but if we consider proportions, we may presume that the amount of passenger and cargo space will be similar to the previous generation. That’s not a bad thing at all, considering that the previous model features three comfortable rows of seats and a decent cargo area.

Tech Features

Besides the aforementioned infotainment screen and digital instrument cluster, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will come with several more tech goodies worth mentioning. One of them is the available 10.8-inch head-up display, while we should also mention wireless charging, smartphone integration, satellite navigation, a 360-degree camera, and a Bose premium audio system with 13 speakers.

Naturally, there is also a  long list of safety features, which includes goodies like adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, rear autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning and high-beam assist.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder Engine

As we already mentioned, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will continue with the same 3.5-liter V6 engine. Moreover, even the engine power will remain the same, which means that you may count on about 284 horsepower and 259 pound-feet of torque.

On the other hand, the transmission is completely new. Instead of the CVT, the new model features a new 9-speed automatic transmission. It provides a much better driving experience, and even improves towing capacity. A properly equipped Pathfinder can tow up to 6.000 pounds, which is 1.000 pounds more compared to the previous generation.

When it comes to fuel economy, we count on similar ratings to the previous generation. That would mean around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

2022 Nissan Pathfinder Release Date and Price

The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder is already available in many states of North America, with a starting price of around 34.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Honda Pilot, Kia Telluride, Hyundai Palisade etc.
