2022 Mazda CX-30 Review, Release date, Turbo, Changes

0

The 2022 Mazda CX-30 will represent the third production year of this dynamics small crossover. It came right after the new generation of Mazda 3 and it comes with a lot of similarities, just in a crossover form. Considering that the last year’s update has brought an important novelty in terms of the optional turbo-four engine, we are pretty sure that the next year’s version won’t bring any particular novelty. It should be a typical carryover car.

That’s doesn’t mean anything bad. Moreover, this is arguably one of the best subcompact crossovers on the market, which offers incredible ride quality, which comes in a combination with gorgeous styling and impressive interior quality. Of course, we also like the engine options in the offer, as well as the transmission. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to the infotainment system and the amount of space in the second row.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Mazda CX-30 will arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2021.

2022 Mazda CX-30 Redesign

Design-wise, the 2022 Mazda CX-30 will definitely continue in the same way. It will represent the third production year, which means it’s still early for any bigger updates. We are about to see the same design, which is highly based on the Mazda 3 hatchback. This particularly refers to the styling, as the two models follow Mazda’s latest design language.

Still, this crossover is much more than a gorgeous-looking car. It is a nice piece of engineering, which is particularly attractive for all those drivers that look for a little bit of fun during a crossover ride. The handling is impressive, pretty much on par with hatchbacks and sedans. Also, the steering offers a very good connection with the road.

Interior

Changes on the inside aren’t expected either. We are about to see a familiar layout, which means good things only. This particularly refers to the interior quality, which is at an impressive level. Things are pretty much the same as in Mazda 3. This means that you may count on super-elegant simplistic design, combined with high-quality materials and excellent build quality.

The overall interior quality is impressive for the class, while the amount of passenger space is also decent. The front seats are pretty generous and we really like the driving position. The amount of passenger space in the second row is also quite decent, definitely way better compared to the CX-3.

The cargo area offers a little bit over 20 cubic feet, which is about average for the segment. More importantly, the car features a pretty wide hatch opening, which makes the cargo are quite useful.

Features

The next year’s model may bring a couple of novelties to the list of standard equipment, but we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, the list of standard features should include goodies like a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, an 8.8-inch infotainment display, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, voice recognition, an eight-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, and two USB ports. The current model also comes with a lot of available upgrades. Some of the highlights are things like navigation, wireless device charging, a 12-speaker Bose premium stereo, satellite radio, frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, LED interior lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, and a moonroof.

When it comes to safety, the current model comes standard with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, driver attention monitoring, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a rearview camera. Additionally, there are upgrades like blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, reverse automatic emergency braking, traffic jam assist, a surround-view parking camera system, and traffic sign recognition.

2022 Mazda CX-30 Engine

The engine lineup will definitely remain the same. Base models will continue with a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirate engine, which puts out around 186 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. That’s the most powerful base engine in the class, and driving dynamics are more than decent. Also, a 6-speed automatic transmission does a pretty decent job.

Also, there is the recently introduced turbo-four. This one is good for 227 or 250 horsepower, depending on the fuel you use. In any case, driving dynamics are much better and this engine perfectly suits the CX-30’s engaging handling.

2022 Mazda CX-30 Release Date and Price

As there are no significant updates to come, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Mazda CX-30 won’t arrive before the last quarter of the year. Also, the price should remain pretty much the same as for the current model, which starts at around 23.000 dollars. Some of the key competitors are models like Buick Encore, Toyota C-HR, Subaru Crosstrek etc.
