2022 Nissan Murano Platinum, Release date, Hybrid, Interior, Colors

Nissan’s designers and engineers have been very busy in the last couple of years. In that period, we saw a lot of novelties, particularly in the SUV lineup. We saw several redesigns in recent years, starting from the new Rogue, Juke, Qashqai/Rogue Sport etc. The Murano has been waiting its turn but it looks like its time will finally come in a year or two. The current generation is in production since 2015 and most rivals are younger. However, the overhaul won’t come soon enough to see the 2022 Nissan Murano any different compared to the current model. Moreover, we are about to see a typical carryover model.

This means that you may count on a two-row mid-size crossover which, despite the age, still has a lot of great things to offer. We like its spacious cabin, as well as a very smooth and comfortable ride. Furthermore, the list of standard and available features is pretty long. As no bigger changes are about to come, the launch should happen sometime late in the year.

2022 Nissan Murano Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation will remain in production for some more time and the 2022 Nissan Murano will come without any bigger updates. We are about to see a familiar design, which is based on Nissan’s well-known D platform. Of course, most of the parts are shared with Pathfinder, though this particular model is slightly smaller and features 111.2 inches in wheelbase.

In terms of the styling, not many things have changed since the initial launch. The facelift happened two years ago, but those changes were very mild. However, this SUV somehow managed to remain fresh-looking. There is a big chance that the 2022 Nissan Murano will represent the final model year of this generation, so we certainly won’t see any design changes. However, updates in terms of new colors are always possible, while we won’t exclude the possibility to see some special visual package either.

This is definitely one of the strongest points of the current generation. We like how spacious this cabin is. The front seats are massive and supportive. Drivers may count on a very good position, which provides great ergonomics and very good visibility in most directions. The second row offers plenty of legroom and can accommodate three adult persons easily.

The overall quality is actually pretty good. Materials are really nice and most surfaces are soft to the touch. However, the problem lays in the dashboard design, which looks a little bit outdated. Rivals like Hyundai Santa Fe and Honda Passport look more upscale, even though materials and build quality are actually at a similar level.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 32.1 cubic feet of cargo space with its rear seats upright and 67 cubic feet with these seats folded. That’s below-average for the class.

Since this will probably be the final production year of the generation, it’s hard to believe that Nissan’s engineering will bother too much with adding new features and reorganization of equipment groups. Instead, things are about to remain pretty much the same. This means that you may count on standard features like keyless entry, an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, six-speaker stereo, dual-zone climate control etc. Additionally, you can get things like a moonroof, remote start, navigation and an 11-speaker stereo.

When it comes to safety, all models will come with things like a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, front and rear collision warning, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam headlights. Among options, you will find front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control.

2022 Nissan Murano Engine

The combination of a familiar V6 engine and CVT gearbox will remain the same in the 2022 Nissan Murano. We are about to see a well-known 3.5-liter six-cylinder unit, which in this case delivers around 260 horsepower and 240 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough for pretty solid acceleration and overall performance.

The CVT is a little bit slower but on the other hand, it provides pretty good fuel economy, which goes around 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. On the other side, 1.500 pounds of the max towing capacity seem like an obvious drawback.

2022 Nissan Murano Release Date and Price

The last quarter of 2021 seems like a perfect time for the 2022 Nissan Murano’s launch. We don’t expect to see pricing changes, so base models should go around 33.000 dollars. The number of competitors in the segment isn’t too big. However, that doesn’t mean that the competition isn’t tough. There are few pretty amazing models, such as Honda Passport, Ford Edge, Hyundai Santa Fe etc.
