2023 Ford Escape Facelift: Refresh, Colors, Changes, Hybrid, ST

0

The current generation of Ford’s compact crossover has been around for just a couple of years but it looks like we are about to see a mid-cycle update already for the 2023 Ford Escape. The competition is getting tougher every year and that’s probably the main reason why Escape’s sales numbers started to go down. Of course, the Blue Oval company wants to change this trend and that is why the updates could be pretty big for the next-year model.

At this point, the details are still unknown but we presume we could see a lot of changes regarding aesthetics. Besides exterior changes, we could see a couple of novelties on the inside as well. Finally, we hope that the list of standard equipment will become much longer. On the other hand, the engine lineup probably won’t change and the next year’s model will probably continue with familiar gasoline and hybrid variants.

The refreshed 2023 Ford Escape should hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Ford Escape Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Ford Escape is expected to receive a mid-cycle update. Therefore, we expect to see some nice updates in various aspects. The first thing that comes to mind is the styling. We presume that the new model will come with some novelties at the front, in terms of new headlights, new grille design, bumper etc. The rear end should come with a couple of tweaks as well, with revisions in areas like taillights, tailgate etc. Also, we should see updates in terms of new color options, new wheels etc.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle shouldn’t change much. Simply, the current model already features a pretty nice chassis and suspension setup, characterized by pretty engaging handling and great overall ride quality.

Interior

The current cabin looks nice but the problem is that rivals look nicer. That’s why we expect to see some revisions to the dashboard as well. For example, the current model comes standard with a tiny 4.2-inch LCD screen, while the 8-inch touchscreen is available in higher trim levels. For the 2023 Ford Escape, the 8-inch unit should become standard, while range-topping models could come with something even bigger. Few more tweaks are possible on the center stack, while we wouldn’t be surprised if e see a new, digital instrument cluster as well.

On the other hand, the overall cabin layout will remain the same. The cabin will offer the same amount of space, which is generous enough to accommodate adults in both rows of seats. The cargo area offers around 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total volume goes around 65 cubic feet, which is pretty good for the segment.

Features

Considering that the competition is getting much stronger these days, we expect that the Blue Oval company will offer much more in the new model. We expect to see things like larger touchscreens, digital instrument cluster etc. For reference, the current model comes standard with a pretty basic list of standard equipment, which includes a 4.2-inch display, Bluetooth and 6-speakers. Of course, many things are available, starting from an 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, satellite radio, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, a panoramic moonroof, and automatic climate control.

The same thing is with safety features. The current model comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, a rearview camera, and lane keep assist. Additionally, you can get goodies like adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, traffic jam assist, parallel and perpendicular park assist, rear parking sensors, and a head-up display.

2023 Ford Escape Engines

Changes under the hood are not expected. So, the base 2023 Ford Escape should come with a familiar 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, which puts out around 181 horsepower and 190 pound-feet of torque. If you’re up for something peppier, there is a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horses. Both engines come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.

When it comes to hybrid models, the offer starts with a classic hybrid, based on a 2.5-liter inline-four. The system delivers a total output of 200 horsepower, while the company claims 44 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The plug-in hybrid puts out 221 horsepower and offers 41 mpg in a combined ride. Also, you may count on about 27 miles of the all-electric range.

2023 Ford Escape Release Date and Price

We believe that the 2023 Ford Escape will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022, with a starting price of around 27.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, Hyundai Tucson etc.
