2022 Lincoln Corsair Preview: Review, Interior, Release date, GT

1

The 2022 Lincoln Corsair will represent the third production year of the company’s small crossover and therefore, we are pretty sure that there won’t be too many changes. This model is still quite fresh, while the recent addition of a plug-in hybrid version makes it even more competitive in this tough market. In the best case, we could see minor updates like new color options and new standard features. Other than that, the next year shouldn’t bring anything more interesting.

You may count on a nice compact luxury crossover, which has some pretty good things to offer. We like its spacious and comfortable cabin, capable engine options, long list of standard features etc. On the other hand, the biggest complaint goes to the handling, which should be more engaging.

Considering that there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Lincoln Corsair will hit the market in the last quarter of 2021.

2022 Lincoln Corsair Redesign

When it comes to base design characteristics, the 2022 Lincoln Corsair definitely won’t change. This model has been around for just a few years and it is still a pretty fresh player on the market. The mechanical aspect has a lot of things in common with Ford Escape. The two models share platform, wheelbase etc. Even the ride quality is pretty similar.

Visually, this crossover follows the brand’s contemporary design language. Therefore, it looks really nice. We like its classic lines and design solutions and we are pretty sure that such a styling approach will age well. For the same reason, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Lincoln Corsair won’t feature any bigger change. It is still early for a mid-cycle update, but we won’t be surprised if we see some new color options in the offer. New visual packages are always possible.

Interior

On the inside, the 2022 Lincoln Corsair should continue in the same way. We are about to see a familiar layout, which has a lot of good things to offer. This cabin looks very nice and more importantly, the materials and build quality are really nice. Base models come with synthetic upholstery, while higher trims come with genuine leather.

The front seats are spacious and comfortable, though we feel they could be more supportive. Also, the driving position is good and provides great visibility in all directions. The second row is as spacious and accommodates adult passengers with ease. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 27.6 cubic feet of room and 57.6 cubic feet of the total volume. That’s about average for the segment.

Features

We don’t believe that the 2022 Corsair could come with too many novelties when it comes to standard and available features. Most of the things should remain the same, which means that base models should come with goodies like dual-zone climate control, remote start, keyless entry, an 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and a 10-speaker premium stereo. Additionally, you can get options like a panoramic sunroof, navigation, a 14-speaker Revel stereo, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless device charging.

The same thing is with safety features. All models should come standard with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic high-beam headlights, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors. There are also upgrades like adaptive cruise control, speed-limit sign recognition, lane centering assist, evasive steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking, front parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, automatic parking, adaptive headlights, a head-up display etc.

2022 Lincoln Corsair Engines

The 2022 Lincoln Corsair will continue with three familiar engine options in the offer. Base versions feature a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower and which should satisfy most drivers. If you’re up for something peppier, there is also a 2.3-liter unit in the offer, with a max output of 295 horsepower. Both engines come in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and both offer similar fuel economy. The base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, while the 2.3-liter unit drops by 1 mpg.

Last year, the Blue Oval company introduced a plug-in hybrid version of the Corsair. It comes with a 2.5-liter engine, which gets help from a couple of electric motors. The combined output goes up to 266 horses and that power is sent to wheels via a CVT transmission. Also, you may count on about 28 miles of the all-electric range.

2022 Lincoln Corsair Release Date and Price

Considering that there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2022 Lincoln Corsair will hit the market sometime late in the year. The base price should go around 36.000 dollars. Some of the key competitors should be models like Buick Envision, Infiniti QX50, Mercedes-Benz GLB etc.
