The Nautilus was introduced a couple of years ago but if we consider that it came as a significantly updated version of the former MKX, we may say it’s been around since 2015. Therefore, we presume it has a few more years before it gets a complete redesign. Also, if we consider the last year’s update, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Lincoln Nautilus will be a typical carryover model, with no bigger changes to come.

All this means that you may count on a nice mid-size crossover, which has a lot of good things to offer. We like the cabin in particular, as it is spacious, well built and well equipped. Moreover, the cargo area also offers some pretty decent numbers, while the engine lineup includes a couple of quite capable options. On the other side, the biggest complaint goes to ride quality, which could be better.

As there are no significant updates to come, we presume that the 2022 Lincoln Nautilus will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Lincoln Nautilus Redesign

The Nautilus has been around for a couple of years and we are pretty sure that the next year’s model won’t bring any notable changes, at least when it comes to base design characteristics. The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus will continue to ride on a familiar CD4 platform and offer ride quality that isn’t particularly great. This crossover isn’t fun to drive but isn’t particularly comfortable either.

On the other hand, the styling is pretty good. The current look has been around since 2019 and it looks pretty good, way better than the previous MKX. So, the best we could see for the next year would be new color options, though even that doesn’t sound particularly likely.

Interior

After the last year’s significant makeover, we have no doubt that the 2022 Lincoln Nautilus cabin will feature no changes. To remind you, the 2021 model came with a completely new dashboard design, which looks clean and luxurious. Also, the build quality and materials are way better than before, so the overall impression about the cabin is great.

On the other side, the overall cabin layout remained the same. That is also a good thing, considering the amount of space this cabin offers. Both rows come with a lot of passenger space and accommodate adults with ease. Furthermore, the front seats are massive and supportive. We also like the driving position. Ergonomics are great, while visibility is pretty good in all directions.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 37.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and up to 68.8 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. Compared to rivals, these are very good ratings for a two-row mid-size SUV.

Features

Once again, no bigger changes are expected. Of course, there is always a chance to see a couple of novelties on the list of standard equipment. Still, we are pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. The current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like keyless entry, remote start, dual-zone climate control, a 13.2-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, and a 10-speaker stereo. Additionally, you can get goodies like a panoramic sunroof, a navigation system, wireless device charging, 13- and 19-speaker sound systems, a rear-seat entertainment system with two 10-inch displays, ambient lighting etc.

When it comes to safety, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.

2022 Lincoln Nautilus Engines

No surprises are expected under the hood of this SUV. Base models will continue with a good-old 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. It comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and provides driving dynamics that will satisfy most drivers. Those who feel more ambitious can opt for a 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6, which puts out around 335 horsepower. With this engine, the Nautilus can hit 60 in six seconds.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. That’s about average for the segment. The V6 is slightly thirstier and returns around 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.

2022 Lincoln Nautilus Release Date and Price

We don’t expect to see any important update for the next year and such models typically come sometime late in the year. So, we presume that the 2022 Lincoln Nautilus will arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2021. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 42.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Cadillac XT5, Lexus RX350 etc.
