By The new generation of the super-capable SUV was finally released a few months ago. Considering that we’ve been waiting for so long to see it, it’s no wonder that changes are numerous. However, that doesn’t mean that we will be waiting for too long to see more novelties. The company already prepared a big novelty, in the form of a new Off-Road package. At this point, this version is planned for the domestic market only but if we can trust the latest reports, the North American version will arrive by the next year, as the 2024 Lexus LX.
This version would bring all kinds of off-road upgrades. On the other hand, the standard model would continue in the same way. We would see a familiar layout, with familiar mechanics under the skin, including the engine. At this point, it’s still unknown when the LX will get a hybrid powertrain.
We expect that the 2024 Lexus LX will hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year.
2024 Lexus LX Design
The 2024 Lexus LX will represent the third production year of the new generation and it looks like there are some big novelties to come. Allegedly, the company will bring the new Off-Road package to North America. With these upgrades, this decent off-roader will become a fantastic off-roader. For example, it will come with three locking differentials instead of one – front, center and rear. Furthermore, you may count goodies like lightweight front and rear skid plates fashioned from CFRP, carbon-fiber-reinforced polymers, chunkier CFRP wheel arches etc. You may also count on large 20-inch wheels, along with Toyo Open Country A/T III tires.
Of course, this version will also come with lots of exclusive styling details, which will accentuate its off-road character. Some of the things that come to mind are new wheels, new grille design, lots of blacked details etc. On the other hand, standard versions will carry on in the same way.
Interior
When it comes to interior design, expect no bigger changes. The new model will continue in the same layout, and features a nicely designed dashboard, with super-fine materials and excellent build quality. The dashboard looks attractive and there is a lot of attention to detail. Finally, there is a pretty generous amount of tech features.
The driving position is excellent, while we particularly like the sound insulation. The front seats are massive and supportive, very generous with space. We could say the same for the second row but not for the third. Due to the shorter wheelbase than rivals, the LX isn’t very generous with third-row space. Moreover, it feels really tight down there. For the same reason, the cargo area isn’t generous at all. In the best case, you can get up to 71 cubic feet of the overall cargo volume, which is less than you get from a compact crossover like a Honda CR-V, for example.
Features
We don’t believe that this aspect could bring bigger changes. The 2024 Lexus LX should carry on with the same or very similar list of standard equipment. So, base models should come with goodies like 12.3-inch and 7-inch touch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 10-speaker premium stereo, Bluetooth, four USB ports, satellite radio, wireless device charging, and navigation, as well as an 8-inch digital instrument cluster display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener, and a moonroof.
Considering such a generous list of standard equipment, it’s obvious that there aren’t too many options. Still, you can get upgrades like center-console refrigerator, two additional USB ports, a 25-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound stereo, rear wireless device charging, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 11.4-inch displays.
2024 Lexus LX Engine
The 2024 Lexus LX will continue with the same, recently introduced 3.4-liter twin-turbo V6 engine, which puts out around 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The engine offers great driving dynamics, while we also like the new 10-speed automatic transmission. With this engine, the new Land Cruiser can tow up to 8.000 pounds, while the average fuel economy goes around 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.
At this point, we still don’t know whether the Lexus is about to offer a hybrid version or not. The officials are still quiet but rumors suggest we could see the same system as in the new Tundra and Sequoia models. That would mean a V6-based system with 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox.
2024 Lexus LX Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Lexus LX will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2023. Bigger price changes shouldn’t happen, so base models should go around 88.000 dollars.
