Based on the Land Cruiser Prado, it hasn’t changed much for nearly 13 years but despite that, it is still a pretty desirable SUV, mainly because of its impressive off-road performances. Still, it doesn’t get any younger, so the company decided to finally make a complete overhaul. According to the latest reports, the new generation is in the works and it should debut sometime in the next year, as the 2024 Lexus GX 460.
At this point, most things are still a mystery. Still, some things are already known, while others are easy to predict. What’s for sure is that the next generation will bring so many novelties, starting from the new platform, new design and lots of new features. Also, you may count on a completely new powertrain, which will feature fewer cylinders but more power.

This redesign will come after almost 15 years, so it’s no wonder that we all have pretty big expectations from the new model. Obviously, changes will be significant, starting from the new platform. Of course, we are talking about the new TNGA-F platform, the same one that underpins the new Land Cruiser, LX and other models.
For this occasion, it will be slightly modified, for a mid-size vehicle. Still, the key features will remain, so you may count on improvements in various aspects, starting from significant weight reduction. Also, things like a lower center of gravity and a new suspension setup will improve the ride quality a lot.
Still, that doesn’t mean that off-road performances will be compromised. They can only be better, thanks to the new suspension setup and updated drive modes. Just like the current model, the new 2024 Lexus GX 460 will come standard with four-wheel drive, low-range gearing, locking differential and other off-road features. Higher trim levels may come with further upgrades, such as a surround-view parking camera system, multi-terrain modes, off-road crawl control, and skid plates.
Exterior
Naturally, we expect that this redesign will also bring a completely new exterior design. First of all, we don’t expect bigger changes regarding dimensions, even though most rivals have become bigger. Simply, the company doesn’t want to compromise off-road performance, and we rear appreciate such an approach.
The overall shape shouldn’t change much either while, on the other hand, we expect to see a completely new styling, based on the brand’s latest design language. Of course, many aesthetical solutions will be borrowed from the new LX, but we count on unique details as well.
Interior
The new interior design will also come. At this point, we don’t know the exact details, but we count on a completely new layout. Simply, the current cabin may feature pretty impressive build quality, but it looks a little bit old and it would use some fancier materials. This should all come with the new model, just like new tech features, both in terms of safety and convenience.
Considering that exterior dimensions won’t change much, we expect similar interior dimensions as well. This would mean two spacious and comfortable rows of seats, along with the third row that’s rather tight and works for kids only.
2024 Lexus GX 460 Engine
This aspect will bring some of the biggest changes. Instead of the good-old V8 engine, the 2024 Lexus GX 460 will probably feature a hybrid powertrain. The exact details are yet to be announced but most sources suggest the same system that this company prepares for the next-generation RX 500h.
That system will combine a turbo-four engine with electric motors, while the total output will go around 367 horsepower. More precise details about the powertrain are yet to be announced.
Some rumors also suggest a plug-in hybrid version, which would probably feature the same system as the NX 450h+, probably with a slight power increase.

We expect to see the all-new 2024 Lexus GX 460 sometime in the second half of the next year, with the starting price of around 55.000 dollars.
