2023 Jeep Wrangler: Changes, Specs (Magneto is coming)

0

The current generation of the iconic off-roader has been around for a while but it’s still early for a redesign. On the other hand, there is a big chance to see some interesting updates. Yearly updates are a common thing for Wrangler and that’s why many believe that the 2023 Jeep Wrangler will come with interesting novelties too. According to some sources, that could even be an all-electric version, which would take the Magneto name, rumors suggest. Still, the overall layout will remain untouched.

All in all, you may count on a genuine off-roader, which has a lot of great things to offer. Besides excellent capabilities off the road, this SUV also comes with lots of available features, several capable powertrain options and numerous customization options. Once again, it will come in two body styles, as a 2-door and as a 4-door SUV.

We expect to see the 2023 Jeep Wrangler sometime in the second half of 2022.

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Jeep Wrangler could bring some pretty interesting updates, including a new all-electric version. On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same. The current generation has been around since 2018 and we believe it will remain active for several more years. This SUV comes in two variants, as we two-door version, or with four doors. The latter is better known as Wrangler Unlimited.

Visual updates are always possible but we doubt this SUV could undergo any notable styling change. Instead, we could see new color options on the offer, or maybe a new special version or package.

Once again, the Wrangler will be offered all kinds of upgrades, including numerous off-road features. Some of the things that come to mind are a two-speed transfer case, rock rails, locking front and rear differentials, a sway bar and many more.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Engines

Under the hood, you may count on familiar engine options. Base models will continue with a good-old 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. There is also a torquier and more efficient 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.

For those who care mostly about torque, there is a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, with a max output of 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque. The recently introduced Rubicon 392 will also continue in the same way. This version uses a massive 6.4-liter V8 HEMI engine, which features a max output of 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

Another new powertrain option has been added recently. Yes, we are talking about a plug-in hybrid version, which combines a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with an electric motor, for a combined output of 375 horsepower. Besides plenty of power, this version also offers up to 21 miles of the all-electric range.

Wrangler Magneto

Many believe that the 2023 Jeep Wrangler could come in an all-electric version. Allegedly, this model could come with a similar setup to the Magneto concept, which showed a quite unusual approach. The concept features an electric motor with a max output of 385 horsepower (same as the V6 model), which ensured a 0-60 sprint in about 6.8 seconds. Interestingly, the electric motor is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.

When it comes to battery, this concept features a 70-kWh battery pack. Some of the pack is located under the hood, while the other part is in the cargo area. The company didn’t come up with any numbers regarding the max range.

At this point, the officials are still quiet, so take the all-electric 2023 Jeep Wrangler with a big reserve.

Features

These things probably won’t change much. Base versions will continue as bare bones, with goodies like manual windows and door locks, push-button start, a removable soft top with sunroof, a 5-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, and a USB port.

Fortunately, many more things are available in higher trim levels. You can get goodies like 7- and 8.4-inch touch screens, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, additional USB ports, and navigation, as well as a removable hardtop, a power-folding soft top, a forward-facing off-road camera, power windows and locks, air conditioning, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, and remote start.
