By Ford’s player in the full-size SUV segment has just been updated and given all the novelties that were introduced, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Ford Expedition will be a typical carryover model. Simply, the current generation still has a few good years in front of it, even though the competition is getting tougher. The new Tahoe is here, while the next-generation Toyota Sequoia is about to arrive soon.
In any case, the next year’s Expedition is about to carry on in the same way. This means that you may count on a large SUV that still has a lot of great things to offer. It comes with plenty of passenger space, while the cargo area is decently-sized too. Furthermore, the new interior looks great, while the peppy turbo V6 engine provides excellent performance, including class-leading towing capacity.

2023 Ford Expedition Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Ford Expedition will certainly continue in the same way. This refers to both styling and mechanics. Visually, things will remain the same as in the recently updated model, which came with a completely new front end that looks more attractive than before. Mechanically, things haven’t changed much since the initial launch in 2018. The Expedition is easy to drive, despite the size, while we particularly like its towing capacity, which can go all-away up to 9.300 pounds.
Also, keep in mind a couple of new versions that were introduced recently. Models like the new Timberline will carry on in the same way, with same upgrades. This refers to things like off-road tires, higher ground clearance etc. On the other hand, the new Stealth package brings more aggressive styling, sport-tuned suspension, a more powerful engine etc.
Interior
The recent update has also brought novelties on the inside. The new version features the same interior as the new F-150 pickup, and that brings notable improvements, especially when it comes to materials and overall build quality. Of course, the 2023 Ford Expedition will continue in the same way, including the recently added tech features, such as the available 15.5-inch infotainment screen.
Other than the good interior quality, this SUV offers plenty of interior space. This particularly refers to the passenger room, which is great for the class. All three rows are comfortable and spacious, while the third row also accommodates adults with ease.
The cargo area also offers respectable numbers. You may count on about 20.9 cubic feet of space behind the third row 63.6 cubic feet behind the second row and up to 104.6 cubic feet in total. Those are pretty good numbers but keep in mind that the new Tahoe offers even more.
Features
Of course, we could see a couple of novelties in this aspect but we have no doubt that most of the things are about to remain the same. So, base models should continue with things like a 12.0-inch infotainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hot spot, four USB ports, a six-speaker stereo, tri-zone climate control etc. Also, there are several interesting upgrades on the offer, starting from a massive 15.5-inch infotainment screen, digital gauge cluster, wireless device charging, navigation, premium Bang & Olufsen stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, two more USB ports, and a rear-seat entertainment system with two screens.
When it comes to driver-assistance features, the most interesting thing is the recently added semi-autonomous driving system called BlueCruise, which is optional. When it comes to standard features, some of the highlights are a rearview camera, lane keep assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert.
2023 Ford Expedition Engine
All 2023 Ford Expedition models will come with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine. However, keep in mind that this engine comes in different output variants. Base versions are good for about 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Mid-range versions are good for around 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. Finally, there is the recently-added Stealth Performance package. This one comes with a max output of 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque.
All models come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty fine job. The fuel economy is good for the class and goes around 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 9.300 pounds.
2023 Ford Expedition Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Ford Expedition will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022. Base models should go around 52.000 dollars.
