2023 Acura MDX Preview: Release Date, Changes, Aspec, Type S

0

The world’s first three-row luxury crossover has just received a full redesign. It comes with a new design, new engine options, more tech features and other upgrades. Considering all the changes, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Acura MDX, which will represent the second production year of the generation, will come without more important changes. Of course, minor updates are always possible, such as new features and color options.

The overall layout will certainly remain the same. Therefore, you may count on a premium crossover that has so many great things to offer, starting from athletic handling and a smooth powertrain. We like the long list of standard equipment and the spacious cabin. On the other hand, the main complaint goes to the infotainment system, which is a little bit difficult to use. Also, a high-performance Type S model is on the way and it will come unchanged for the 2023 model year.

We expect that the 2023 Acura MDX will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022.

2023 Acura MDX Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2022 model received a redesign, so it’s pretty much a certain thing that the 2023 Acura MDX is about to carry on in the same way. The new generation has brought a lot of new things, starting from the styling, which is sharp and full of angles. The new design language perfectly fits Acura’s design language and we presume that the best 2023 Acura MDX could bring are new color options, even though the current model already comes with plenty of them.

Mechanically, things definitely won’t change. This SUV is one of the most athletic models in the class. Therefore, the ride is a little bit firmer compared to the competitors like Volvo XC90 or Audi Q7, but you may get more engaging handling in return.

Interior

The recent redesign has brought a significant improvement in this aspect. The new generation features way better interior quality. You can notice that the materials are much finer, while the build quality is at a higher level as well. Also, we really like the new dashboard design, which keeps a lot of physical controls. That makes our life easier.

2023 Acura MDX Interior

The new generation features 2.8 inches more in the wheelbase and that’s quite notable on the inside. There is more legroom than before, especially in the third row, which is more functional now. The first two rows are very generous and accommodate adults with ease. The front seats are massive and supportive. The driving position is excellent.

When it comes to cargo space, you may count on about 16.3 cubic feet of room behind the third-row seats, 39.1 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded down, and 71.4 cubes in total. Those are good ratings for the class.

Features

We wouldn’t be surprised if we see a couple of new things on the list of standard equipment, but we are also pretty sure that this aspect is about to remain largely the same. Therefore, base models should come standard with a 12.3-inch display, a touchpad controller, a nine-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, Amazon Alexa, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Among upgrades, we expect to see goodies like tri-zone climate control, navigation, additional USB ports, and a 12-, 16-, or 25-speaker ELS audio system.

All models should come standard with safety features like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic sign recognition and many more.

2023 Acura MDX Engines

Things under the hood definitely won’t change. Base models will continue with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that puts out around 290 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. That’s more than enough for a convenient ride, while we particularly like the engine’s refinement. The 10-speed automatic transmission also does a pretty fine job.

The MDX Type S is on the way and we are pretty sure that the next year’s model will continue without changes. So, you may count on a familiar 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. That’s plenty of power and we estimate it will be enough to move this SUV from zero to sixty in less than five seconds. Besides more power, the Type S also comes with upgraded suspension, brakes and other things.

2023 Acura MDX Release Date and Price

We don’t expect bigger changes, so the 2023 Acura MDX should hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022. Base models should go around 48.000 dollars. The competition is tough, while some of the key rivals would be models like Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz GLE etc.
