2022 Hyundai Terracan Interior, Release date, Price, Redesign

Today’s situation in the automotive market is quite specific. On one side, we have the fast-growing market of crossovers, which is bigger than ever. However, we also have a not-so-small group of real SUV enthusiasts who appreciate good-old ladder-frame designs. So, it’s no wonder that models like Toyota 4Runner are more popular than ever, while Ford has brought back the legendary Bronco. Hyundai may do the same thing as Ford if we could trust the latest reports, and bring back the Terracan. Allegedly, the new model could come already like the 2022 Hyundai Terracan.

At this point, this is just a rumor, but a rumor that’s becoming louder and louder every day.  If it arrives, we have no doubt that it would use the same design approach as the original model, which was in production during the first decade of this century. However, Hyundai would design the whole model on its own this time.

2022 Hyundai Terracan Redesign

If you’re old enough to remember the original Terracan, you probably know that this is a genuine BoF SUV, which was quite untypical for a company that rather puts focus on passenger cars and crossover. Logically, Hyundai didn’t have time and energy to develop its own platform, so the solution came from Japan. This model was largely based on the Mitsubishi Pajero. It features the same ladder chassis but we can’t say it was a complete clone of the legendary off-roader. Instead, Hyundai installed its own engines, offered a completely new styling and interior design.

This time, Hyundai would probably have to do everything by itself. Mitsubishi doesn’t produce genuine SUVs anymore, while we don’t believe that others would like to share technology with Hyundai at the moment. Therefore, most reports suggest that the Korean manufacturer will make its own BoF chassis, which would eventually be used for a new pickup truck as well.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, one of the first things that come to mind is size. What we expect to see are dimensions that are typical for a mid-size segment. We presume that the 4Runner would use as an inspiration, considering the popularity of Toyota’s SUV. So, dimensions would be similar, as well as the overall exterior design.

This would mean a pretty rugger appearance, with the obvious focus on off-road performance. After all, even the rendering photos show a design that’s heavily influenced by the Japanese off-roader. Of course, Hyundai would put its own stamp on it and we would see an implementation of the brand’s latest design language, with the front face that utilizes similar headlights to ones that can be seen on Kona. The rest of the body would come in a typical SUV manner, with high ground clearance, massive tires, good approach and departure angles etc.

Interior

When it comes to interior design, it’s still early to talk about anything more precise. On the other side, we could speculate about the overall layout. As you probably know, a typical BoF SUV buyer doesn’t see these models as family haulers, so the third row isn’t a priority. So, we presume that standard models will come with two rows of seats, while the third one will be offered as an option, and probably won’t be too spacious. On the other side, the cargo area would definitely have to offer respectable numbers. We presume something between 80 and 90 cubic feet would be just fine.

Also, we don’t expect that the dashboard would look as stylish as in the new Santa Fe or Palisade. Instead, we would rather see more plastics and less soft-touch materials, which would improve durability and overall functionality. Still, we count on a fine amount of tech goodies and other features, while some hi-end trim levels could even look pretty luxurious.

2022 Hyundai Terracan Engine

Considering the SUV’s rugged nature, we don’t expect that potential buyers would care mostly about reliability. Therefore, we don’t see a 2022 Hyundai Terracan with a turbocharged engine. Instead, we are pretty sure it would come with a 3.8-liter V6, which powers the Palisade. This engine puts out around 290 horsepower and seems like a perfect fit for a vehicle of this size and weight. Also, we expect this engine would also use the same 8-speed automatic transmission.

If we presume that the new 2022 Hyundai Terracan would be offered in various parts of the world, there is no reason why we wouldn’t see a diesel version in the offer as well. That engine would be offered on markets like Europe, Australia etc.

2022 Hyundai Terracan Release Date and Price

Despite the reports that suggest its arrival already in the next year, the fact is that the 2022 Hyundai Terracan is still just a rumor and that the officials are still quiet. If it arrives one day, we presume that base models would go around 35.000 dollars.
