It’s no secret that the Japanese manufacturer is working on a new generation of the popular compact crossover. The test mule has been spotted in Europe and it is expected that the launch could happen by the end of this year. The new generation will debut as the 2023 model, but the latest reports also suggest big novelties for the 2024 Honda CR-V, which could come with a new, all-electric powertrain on the offer. The officials are still quiet on this, so it’s hard to talk about details.
In any case, a lot of new things are about to come in the next few years. The new generation will get bigger and more spacious, while we can also see a completely new styling, even though the test mule still wears a camouflage. Finally, there’s the engine lineup, which will include both new and familiar powertrain options.
2024 Honda CR-V Will Go All-Electric
According to the latest reports, the complete redesign is about to come with the 2023 model and only a year later, we are about to see another set of big novelties. This primarily refers to the electrification, as the 2024 Honda CR-V will probably get an all-electric version, rumors say.
At this point, we don’t know much about the powertrain. Still, we may presume that the all-electric CR-V would use the same setup as the upcoming Prologue EV, which includes GM’s Ultium battery technology as well. Most likely, we will see a 100-kWh battery pack, which should ensure around 300 miles of range per charge. Details about electric motors are yet to come.
Of course, the drivetrain probably won’t be the only exclusive detail on the all-electric 2024 Honda CR-V. We also expect to see some exclusive design solutions, particularly in terms of styling. The front end may come with a little bit different look, while some other areas may also come with lots of details that accentuate the model’s all-electric nature.

2024 Honda CR-V Engines
Other than the new all-electric versions, the 2024 Honda CR-V will probably continue with familiar powertrain options. The well-known 1.5-liter turbo-four will continue to be the core of the offer, with a max output of around 190 horsepower. A hybrid version is also expected, though it is still unknown whether the new generation is about to continue with the same setup, or if we are about to see some updates. The current model uses the same system as the Honda Accord, a combination of a 2.0-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors, for a total output of 212 horsepower.
Finally, we could also see a plug-in hybrid powertrain on the offer, which would use a similar system to the classic hybrid, though with a much bigger battery. As a result, we count on 35-40 miles of range in the all-electric mode.
2024 Honda CR-V Design
The 2024 Honda CR-V will be part of the new generation of Honda’s bestseller. Therefore, we count on a new design, which is about to bring a lot of interesting novelties. The test mule of the new model is still covered with camouflage but we can clearly see bigger dimensions than before. The new model will feature a notably longer wheelbase, and bigger size, while we also count on a completely new styling. Despite the camouflage, we can see a more mature look, with elegant lines and a more conventional front-end design. The hood seems longer, which should also make the new model look more attractive.
Of course, the interior will also come all-new. At this point, we still don’t know the details but we may presume that the dashboard could take some inspiration from the new Civic. On the other hand, what’s a certain thing is that the new model will feature more space on the inside. It is pretty much for sure that the 2024 Honda CR-V will come with three rows of seats, while the cargo room will offer even more room than the outgoing model.
2024 Honda CR-V Release Date and Price
We expect to see the 2024 Honda CR-V sometime in the second half of 2023. The starting price should go around 27.000 dollars, while the all-electric version will certainly feature a much higher price. Key competitors will be models like VW Tiguan, Mitsubishi Outlander, Toyota RAV4 etc.
