The current generation of the world’s best-selling SUV has been around for a while and many believe that the 2023 Toyota RAV4 will come with some updates, which will help it to retain the leading position on the market. That will probably be a mid-cycle update, which should bring various kinds of changes, but primarily visual updates. We presume this will be a typical facelift, though the details are yet to come.

Despite the update, we are pretty sure that the core of the vehicle won’t change at all. This SUV will continue to offer a great mix of goodies, starting from a spacious and comfortable cabin, excellent fuel economy, a long list of tech and safety features and a high level of overall practicality and usability.

Considering the possible mid-cycle update, we presume that the 2023 Toyota RAV4 could hit the market a little bit earlier than usual, but still within the second half of 2022.

2023 Toyota RAV4 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, they could easily receive a mid-cycle update. In other words, we could see a bunch of visual updates, which will keep this model fresh and competitive for the next few years. We presume that the focus would be on the front end, where we could see a few tweaks on the grille, headlights and new bumper. The rear end could come with a couple of updates as well, while typical mid-cycle updates like new colors and wheels are also possible. Still, keep in mind that the officials are still quiet about this update, so take this article with a big reserve.

Whether the 2023 Toyota RAV4 receives updates or not, the overall layout will remain the same. So, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle is about to remain untouched, which means that you may count on the same ride quality, which offers a fine balance between comfort and engaging handling.

Interior

The possible update probably wouldn’t bring bigger changes on the inside. Of course, there is always a chance to see new color schemes and more tech features, but the overall cabin layout would remain the same. This includes the dashboard design too, which already looks pretty good and modern. The build quality is good, as well as the materials. One of the possible changes is o see an 8-inch infotainment system as standard, while more expensive versions could come with something bigger.

The overall cabin layout will remain the same and that means that the amount of space will remain the same too. This means a couple of spacious and comfortable rows of seats, which accommodate adults with ease. The front seats are well-profiled and offer good support. The seating position is good, though the rearward visibility could be better.

The cargo area offers 37.5 cubic feet behind the second row and nearly 70 cubic feet of the overall cargo space, which are respectable numbers for the class.

Features

Novelties in terms of standard equipment are always possible. We already mentioned the possibility to see bigger infotainment screens, while other novelties in terms of tech and safety features are possible too.

Still, keep in mind that the current model is already equipped pretty well and that most of the features will remain the same. For reference, the current model comes standard with a 7-inch touch screen, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, a USB port, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and a six-speaker stereo. The list of standard safety features includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, road sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and lane trace assist.

2023 Toyota RAV4 Engines

This is the only aspect where we don’t expect to see changes. The 2023 Toyota RAV4 should continue with three familiar powertrain options on the offer. Base models will continue with a familiar 2.5-liter inline-four engine, which puts out 203 horsepower and offers quite decent driving dynamics. It comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which also does a good job. The fuel economy goes around 28 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, which is excellent for the class.

The hybrid version uses the same 2.5-liter engine, which comes coupled with two electric motors. The total output goes around 220 horsepower and driving dynamics are pretty good. The CVT gearbox does a fine job too, while the fuel economy is great. In numbers, it goes around 41 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway.

Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version, which offers a total output of 302 horsepower and 42 miles of the all-electric range.

2023 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price

Considering the update, the 2023 Toyota RAV4 could arrive a little bit earlier than usual, but still within the second half of 2022. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 27.000 dollars. Models like Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue and Subaru Forester are key competitors.
