The current generation of Cadillac’s compact crossover has been around since 2017 and while that may not seem too old, the market shows an opposite thing. The last year’s sales results are notably lower compared to 2020, it becomes clear while the new generation is already in the final stage of development. According to the latest reports, the 2023 Cadillac XT5 will hit the market by the end of this year and we count on all kinds of interesting novelties.
At this point, the company keeps details a secret. On the other hand, general things are relatively easy to predict, as the new 2023 Cadillac XT5 will feature mostly evolutionary changes. It will ride on the same but updated platform, while the engine lineup won’t drastically change either. On the other hand, we will see the implementation of new technologies and tech solutions, which should make this SUV a much better vehicle than before.
More precise launch date is yet to be announced but we presume that the new model will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.
2023 Cadillac XT5 Redesign
As we’ve just mentioned, the next-generation 2023 Cadillac XT5 will be a lot about evolutionary changes. This particularly refers to the platform, which will be an updated version of the current C1 architecture. This update will bring a lot of new things, including the ability to adopt the latest technologies, such as GM’s well-known Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system.
Still, the main thing about this redesign will be to address the weak points of the current generations. One of the biggest complaints about the current model goes to the ride quality. It is neither athletic nor particularly comfortable. So, we expect to see a completely new suspension setup, chassis upgrades and other modifications that will improve the XT5 in this aspect notably.
When it comes to the exterior design, there is no doubt that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 will bring a completely new styling. At this point, we still don’t know the details but we presume that the new model will follow the brand’s latest design language, based on the Escala concept. Expect something similar to the XT6, just in a smaller package. Of course, there is always plenty of room for exclusive details.
In terms of dimensions, we don’t expect that the 2023 Cadillac XT5 could change too much. It will probably feature a similar size as the current model, which is good for about 112.5 inches in wheelbase and measures nearly 190 inches in total length. Still, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see some improvements regarding weight savings, which would certainly have a positive impact on ride quality and efficiency.
The interior design is another weak point of the current generation. It doesn’t look all that bad but it definitely isn’t as upscale as cabins of rivals. Therefore, we count on improvements regarding build quality, materials and style in general. Furthermore, the new generation should bring a full load of new tech features, starting from an updated infotainment system with a bigger touchscreen, new connectivity options and more.
With 112.5 inches in wheelbase, the current generation is among the biggest models in the class and, therefore, it’s no wonder it is pretty generous with space in both rows of seats. Therefore, we expect that the new generation will be pretty similar in this aspect. The same thing goes for the cargo area, which probably won’t bring drastic changes.
2023 Cadillac XT5 Engines
At this point, we know for sure that the base powertrain offer won’t change. The standard 2023 Cadillac XT5 engine will be a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which features a max output of 237 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.
On the other hand, the future of the currently-available 3.6-liter V6 is still uncertain. Some sources suggest it will carry on, while others speculated about the replacement, which would come in the form of a 2.7-liter turbo-four. This engine also features a max output of 310 horsepower but also offers significantly more torque, around 348 pound-feet.
2023 Cadillac XT5 Release Date and Price
At this point, we still don’t know the exact launch date of the 2023 Cadillac XT5 but we presume it could arrive sometime in the second half of the year. The outgoing model features a starting price of around 45.000 dollars and we don’t expect to see some significant increase in the future. Some of the key competitors should be models like Mercedes-Benz GLB, Volvo XC60 etc.
