Lincoln’s biggest crossover is a perfect choice for those who look for a spacious family hauler that isn’t as expensive and as rugged as the Navigator. It’s been around for about two years, so we could say it is still a pretty fresh model on the market. For the same reason, it’s no wonder that the American luxury carmaker won’t bring any significant updates for the 2022 Lincoln Aviator. From what we know so far, the new model will come with two additional color options in the offer and a new appearance package. Other than that, we will see a couple of new safety features, while the overall layout will remain the same.

You may count on familiar characteristics. This model looks good and comes with a pretty luxurious interior. Moreover, the cabin is also very spacious, with a huge cargo hold. Furthermore, we like the two capable and powerful options, as well as a pretty comfortable ride.

Since we won’t see significant changes, the launch date should be scheduled for the end of 2021.

2022 Lincoln Aviator Redesign

For the third production year, the luxury carmaker will bring just a couple of updates. First of all, there will be two new color options on offer – Gilded Green and Bronze Smoke. Also, there is a new Appearance package, available in base models. It adds unique wheels and a panoramic sunroof.

Other than that, things are about to remain the same. You may count on the same layout, based on Ford’s new CD6 platform. Although many parts are shared with the Explorer, things like suspension have been significantly upgraded and offer a pretty impressive level of comfort. On the other hand, handling could be a little bit more engaging.

The styling will certainly remain the same, with the exception of the aforementioned updates.

Interior

This aspect won’t bring changes and to be honest, it doesn’t. Simply, the current cabin already looks pretty impressive. We like the materials, while the classic dashboard design makes this Lincoln look very stylish. Also, the build quality is at a high level, just like the sound insulation. Also, a long list of standard features makes everything look even more upscale. Practically, it’s hard to find any bigger complaint regarding interior quality.

This cabin is also very spacious and functional. It comes with three rows of seats, and considering more than 119 inches in wheelbase, it’s no wonder that all three can accommodate adults. Of course, the third row is a little bit tighter, while the first two are pretty impressive in this aspect.

The cargo area is as impressive. You may count on about 18.3 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 41.8 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total of 77.7 cubic feet. Those are above-average numbers for the class.

Features

Although we will see a few shuffles between trim levels, most of the standard and available features will remain unchanged. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, a 10.1-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Bluetooth, satellite radio, a 10-speaker stereo, and four USB ports. Among options, you should find goodies like a panoramic sunroof, quad-zone climate control, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, two more USB ports, HD Radio, and a 14- or 28-speaker Revel stereo.

We expect the same or similar things in terms of safety. The current model comes standard with a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist etc. Additionally, there are options like reverse automatic emergency braking, parallel and perpendicular park assist, a surround-view parking camera system, evasive steering assist, and adaptive cruise control.

2022 Lincoln Aviator Engines

The powertrain department definitely won’t bring changes. Base models will continue with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6, which puts out around 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to satisfy the most demanding drivers. Still, Lincoln also offers a plug-in hybrid version, which has the same engine but also gets help from the electric motor. The total output goes up to 494 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque. Also, you may count on about 18 miles of the all-electric range.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. The plug-in hybrid is good for about 56 mpg-e in a combined ride.

2022 Lincoln Aviator Release Date and Price

Since there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Lincoln Aviator will arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2021. When it comes to the price, base models will go around 52.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Cadillac XT6, Acura MDX, Volvo XC90 etc.
