Bringing back legendary nameplates from the past is always a double-edged sword. On one side, a familiar name means a good starting point, especially when it comes to initial sales. On the other side, there are big expectations from the fans, especially if we are talking about a model that has a status of legend, which is the case with Bronco. The new model came after years of hiatus but what’s great is that it sticks with the tradition. Once again, we may count on a genuine off-roader, which is ready to make Jeep Wrangler run for its money. The 2022 Ford Bronco will represent the second production year and therefore, we don’t expect to see significant changes, at least when it comes to standard models.

On the other side, we are all eagerly waiting for the model with the “Raptor” badge.

2022 Ford Bronco

So, you may count on a familiar layout. This model has just debuted and it offers a lot of great things. Of course, the focus is on off-road performance, but we also adore its styling, as well as a powertrain lineup, which includes two quite capable options.

Considering that bigger changes probably won’t happen, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Ford Bronco will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

Engine Options

As we’ve just mentioned, there are two engine options in the offer in the current model and the 2022 Ford Bronco will certainly continue in the same way. So, the base version will use a good-old 2.3-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 300 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. If you want something more capable, you may pick a 2.7-liter V6, which puts out around 330 horsepower and a pretty impressive 415 pound-feet of torque.

Another thing we like about the powertrain setup is the transmission choice. While both engines come with a 10-speed automatic, the base engine is also available with a new 7-speed manual transmission. The catch with this gearbox is in a super-low 94.75:1 crawler ratio, which makes it perfect for hard terrains and off-roading in general. When it comes to towing, properly equipped versions are good for about 3.500 pounds.

2022 Ford Bronco Chassis and Suspension

For the second production year, the Blue Oval company won’t change anything, at least when it comes to standard models. Therefore, you may count on the same overall layout, which is built over a familiar T6 platform. That’s the same one that underprints the current-generation Ranger. Of course, it has been significantly updated and upgraded in this case and we particularly like the suspension setup. Some of the highlight features are Dana front and rear axles, standard 4WD, 35-inch mud-terrain tires, beadlock-capable wheels, electronic locking front, and rear differentials, long-travel dampers, and a sway-bar-disconnect feature. You may count on 11.6 inches of ground clearance, which sounds quite promising. Also, the company claims this SUV can go through 33.5 inches of water.

Trim Levels

We don’t expect that things could be much different compared to the current model. So, the offer should start with the Base trim. As the name says, this is a pretty basic version of the SUV, with no more than essential features. It comes with steel wheels, manual door locks, 30-inch all-season tires, etc. You may also count on an 8-inch touchscreen, cloth upholstery, two tow hooks, etc.

The Big Bend brings a couple of notable upgrades, starting from aluminum wheels, upgraded grille design, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and all-terrain tires.

The Black Diamond brings further upgrades and some of the things we should mention are upgraded bumpers, rock rails, upgraded vinyl seats, and more.

The Outer Banks stands out with bigger wheels, LED lighting, tube steps, available leather upholstery, etc.

The Badlands offer even more exclusive features and one of the first things we should mention is an upgraded suspension, which comes in a combination with a front stabilizer bar disconnect.

Finally, there is the Wildtrack trim, which brings several exclusive features, particularly in terms of aesthetics. You may count on a blacked roof, unique graphics, leather-trimmed seats, unique flooring, etc.

2022 Ford Bronco Raptor

For the next year, the biggest novelty will be the addition of the Raptor trim. This model will be heavily inspired by the F-150 Raptor, which means that you may count on similar kinds of upgrades. So, count on a more powerful engine, upgraded suspension, and even more off-road hardware. Furthermore, we expect to see lots of unique styling details. The list of standard equipment should be pretty long as well.

Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2022 Ford Bronco sometime in the last quarter of the next year. Considering that there are no significant changes to come, base models should go around 28.500 dollars. Naturally, Jeep Wrangler is the key competitor but keep in mind models like Toyota 4Runner and Land Rover Defender too.
