2022 BMW X4 Facelift: Release date, Price, Colors, Images, Interior

In the world of compact luxury crossover, the X4 stands out for performance and style and we expect that the pol will be set even higher with the 2022 BMW X4. The next year’s model is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh and we count on various novelties. Of course, most of the changes will happen outside, with the new styling. However, there is also a new center console on the inside, while the range-topping M model now comes with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.

Despite the changes, the overall layout will remain the same. In other words, you may count on familiar characteristics. This crossover has so many good things to offer, starting from sharp handling and capable engine options. Furthermore, we like its conservative cabin design, as well as a pretty long list of standard features. On the other hand, the biggest complaints go to the cargo area and rear-seat headroom

2022 BMW X4 Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2022 BMW X4 is about to receive a mid-cycle refresh. For that occasion, we are about to see novelties in various aspects and the biggest one will be new styling. The test model still wears camouflage but we can clearly see that the new front end will include changes in areas like the grille, headlights, bumper etc. The rear end will utilize a new bumper, along with updated taillights. Naturally, we also expect to see typical mid-cycle updates, such as new color options, wheels etc.

The mechanical aspect of the 2022 BMW X4 shouldn’t change. You may count on the same chassis and suspension design, which ensures impressive ride quality. This crossover is easy to drive and more demanding drivers will definitely love the fact that there is almost no body roll, even though we are talking about an SUV.

The inside of the 2022 BMW X4 will also bring a couple of new things. The biggest change will be the new center console. It includes a new button configuration and looks more upscale. Furthermore, the controls look a little bit more oriented to the driver. The rest of the cabin remains pretty much the same, though we can always see things like new color schemes, some new materials etc.

On the other hand, the overall cabin layout won’t change. This means you may count on the same amount of space, which isn’t as impressive as in the case of X3. Due to the sloping roof, this model seems a little bit short in terms of the rear-seat headroom. On the other hand, the front seats are as spacious and as comfortable.

The cargo area offers around 23.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 50.5 cubic feet in total. That’s way less compared to the odd-numbered sibling, but still decent for the class.

Without any doubt, this update will also bring novelties regarding standard features. We already know that most versions will now come standard with a large 12.3-inch infotainment screen. The list of standard equipment also includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD radio, navigation, 11-speaker audio system. The list of standard equipment also includes a panoramic moonroof, push-button start, and tri-zone automatic climate control, while the proximity keyless entry may be added as well.

The 2021 model came with notable updates regarding safety features, so we don’t expect to see too many changes in this aspect. The current model comes standard with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and a rearview camera. Additionally, you can get goodies like a surround-view parking camera system, parallel park assist, and stop-and-go adaptive cruise control with traffic jam assist.

2022 BMW X4 Engines

Things under the hood won’t change too much. Base models will continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Of course, there is the well-known 3.0-liter inline-six, which comes in a couple of output variants. The first one is reserved for the M40i model, which puts out around 382 horsepower.

A more powerful version of the legendary six-cylinder is reserved for the M model and from what we know so far, it will get a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It won’t change the numbers, but it should improve throttle response and overall performance. So, the max output will go up to 473 horsepower, while the Competition version will be good for about 503 horsepower.

All engines will come in pair with excellent 8-speed automatic transmission.
