2023 Subaru Outback: Redesign, Specs, Price

0

The legendary wagon is still a top choice for all those who need plenty of cargo space and overall practicality, along with solid off-road potential and other typical Subaru qualities. The current generation of the Outback has been around since 2019 and if we consider the company’s usual production cycle, we know what to expect from the next year’s model. The 2023 Subaru Outback will represent the fourth production year of the current generation and that’s time for an update, according to Subaru’s schedule.

Typically for this Japanese carmaker, the Outback shouldn’t come with too many updates. This company is usually very conservative and we have no doubt that this wagon will also come with subtle changes only. Of course, most of them will be in terms of the exterior design, while a few interior updates should come as well.

We expect that the 2023 Subaru Outback will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Subaru Outback Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Subaru Outback will represent the fourth year of the current generation and that means we may expect a mid-cycle update. If you are familiar with Subaru, you know that this company has a quite conservative approach to these things. So, we expect subtle changes only. The best we could see are few revisions at the front, things like new fascia, some headlights revisions etc. Of course, we could also see typical mid-cycle updates, such as new wheels, color options etc.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the car will certainly remain the same. Like other Subaru models of the current generation, it also rides on a new modular architecture. The suspension setup is on the soft side and the ride is mostly about comfort. Still, you won’t be disappointed with handling either.

Interior

A few interior changes are possible too. Some sources speculate about revisions on the center stack, things like a new infotainment screen etc. Other than that, we don’t believe that things could change drastically. The overall dashboard design will certainly remain the same, which means you may count on an attractive, modern layout that doesn’t just look great, but also features great quality. The materials are nice, while the fit and finish are even better.

Still, the strongest point of this cabin is definitely the amount of space. This wagon features two really spacious rows of seats, where each one accommodates adults with ease. The driving position is high and provides good visibility in all directions, while ergonomics are pretty good too.

The cargo area is as impressive. You may count on about 32.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 75.7 cubic feet in total, which is way more compared to other wagons and pretty much on par with compact crossovers like Honda CR-V or Toyota RAV4.

Features

We have no doubt that the 2023 Subaru Outback will bring new standard features to the table. However, if we consider that the current model already looks quite good in this aspect, we believe that upgrades won’t be numerous. Most novelties should come regarding tech features, but a few novelties regarding safety features are possible too.

For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like automatic climate control, keyless entry, dual 7-inch touch screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, HD Radio, satellite radio, and a four-speaker stereo. Additionally, you can get goodies like dual-zone climate control, a moonroof, an 11.6-inch touch screen, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two additional USB ports, a six-speaker stereo, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon stereo.

2023 Subaru Outback Engines

This aspect shouldn’t bring any changes. We are pretty sure that the 2023 Subaru Outback will continue with two familiar powertrains on the offer. Base models will continue to use a 2.5-liter flat-four, which puts out around 182 horsepower. It may feel a little bit lethargic to some but it offers excellent fuel economy in return, especially if we consider the standard all-wheel drive. You may count on about 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, which is quite impressive for the class.

IF you’re looking for something peppier, there is an excellent 2.4-liter turbo-four. This one is good for about 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. Driving dynamics are way better with this engine, but you may expect a little bit lower fuel economy ratings. With this engine, the Outback returns around 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

Both engines come coupled with a CVT gearbox.

2023 Subaru Outback Release Date and Price

The 2023 Subaru Outback will probably come a little bit earlier than usual but we still expect to see it within the second half of 2022. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 28.000 dollars.
