2024 Genesis GV80 Is Getting Mid-Cycle Refresh

0

This mid-size luxury SUV has been in production for a while and it’s time for updates. From what we know so far, the 2024 Genesis GV80 will get a comprehensive refresh, with a good portion of updates in various aspects. Of course, the styling changes should be the focus, but we also believe some updates could be made in terms of interior design. On the other hand, we presume that no bigger changes will happen under the hood.

We expect to see refreshed but familiar design, with familiar qualities. The GV80 has a lot of them. It is a smooth and comfortable SUV, which comes with a luxurious interior and a lot of passenger space. We like its generous offer of standard and available features, while the powertrain lineup consists of a couple of pretty capable engine options.

We presume the next year’s model could arrive a little bit earlier than usual, with a slightly higher starting price.

As for the design, we expect to see a typical facelift, with main updates at the front, in areas like the grille, headlights and front bumper. The rear end should get a few interesting novelties but the overall styling approach shouldn’t change significantly.

The current model already looks pretty impressive. It features a sleek and sophisticated design, with a prominent grille and quad headlights. The SUV has a long hood and a low roofline, giving it a sporty and elegant appearance.

In terms of mechanics, the 2024 Genesis GV80 shouldn’t change much, especially not in terms of chassis and suspension setup. There is a multi-link suspension on both ends, with standard gas shock absorbers. You can opt for and Adaptive Suspension Control System,  and adjust the suspension either for a sportier or more comfortable ride.

Interior

At this point, we still don’t know if the next year’s 2024 Genesis GV80 is about to bring novelties or not. In any case, the cabin of the current GV80 is designed to create a sense of spaciousness and luxury, with high-quality materials and attention to detail. The dashboard features a clean and minimalist design, with a large touchscreen display at the center and analog dials for the climate control system. Also, the seats are covered in leather upholstery, and the wood trim and chrome accents add to the upscale feel of the interior.

Typically for the class, there is seating for up to five people in base models and the optional third row. The front seats are spacious and comfortable, with ample legroom and headroom. The rear seats are also roomy, with enough space for adult passengers to sit comfortably on long trips.

Finally, there is the generous cargo space for a mid-size luxury SUV, with 34.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats. The rear seats can be folded down to create a total of 84 cubic feet of cargo volume, which is impressive for a mid-size luxury SUV.

Features

We have no doubt that the upcoming refresh will bring new standards and available features, even though the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect. The current model already comes standard with a massive 14.5-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, wireless device charging, HD Radio, satellite radio, a 12-speaker stereo, an analog gauge cluster, keyless entry, push-button start, remote start, a digital key app, dual-zone automatic climate control and rear sunshades Available infotainment features: a 21-speaker stereo.

We presume that some of the features that are currently available in higher trims could become standard with the 2024 Genesis GV80. The current model is available with a 21-speaker stereo, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, tri-zone automatic climate control, a panoramic sunroof, power soft-close doors and power rear sunshades might become part of the standard equipment.

2024 Genesis GV80 Engine

We expect no changes under the hood. So, base models should carry on with the good old 2.5-liter turbo-four, which puts quite a respectable 300 horsepower. The engine is capable enough to ensure good driving dynamics but if you’re looking for something peppier, there is also the V6. The turbocharged 3.5-liter unit puts out around 375 horsepower, which is enough power to reach sixty in less than 6 seconds. Both engines come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which feels smooth and refined.

As for the fuel economy, the base turbo-four returns up to 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The V6 is slightly thirstier and returns around 20 mpg and 24 mpg on the highway.

2024 Genesis GV80 Release Date and Price

Considering the updates, we presume that the 2024 Genesis GV80 will hit the market a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the year. Base models should cost around 58.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like BMW X5, Audi Q7, Lexus RX etc.
