By The Encore GX has been around for about two years and for all that time, it has been sold alongside the previous generation, known as the egg-shaped Encore. For the next year, the 2023 Buick Encore GX will remain the only Encore in the company’s lineup and from what we know so far, it won’t bring any particular updates. Moreover, we count on a familiar design, as well as on familiar features, while the only updates that could happen are the minor ones. This refers to things like new color options, more standard equipment etc.
We know what to expect from the next year’s model. It will continue with its generous amount of interior space, which is great both for the passengers and for the cargo. Also, powertrain options are quite decent, as they offer a good balance between power and efficiency. On the other hand, the ride isn’t particularly smooth, and the interior quality isn’t impressive either.
As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Buick Encore GX will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2023 Buick Encore GX Design
Design-wise, the 2023 Buick Encore GX will be a typical carryover model. It will represent the fourth production year of the generation that rides on GM’s new VSS-F platform, the same one that underpins the Chevy TrailBlazer. As you may presume, this is an FWD platform, though AWD is available in this case too. The vehicle measures nearly 104 inches in wheelbase, which ensures decent interior room.
The suspension setup is good, though not great. It is rather simple, which is great in terms of maintenance. However, for the same reason, the ride isn’t particularly smooth on pawn roads.
Interior
Once again, we won’t be seeing any bigger changes on the inside either. The 2023 Buick Encore GX will continue with the cabin design that has both good and bad things to offer. When it comes to bad things, the overall interior quality isn’t great, as there are several areas with low-rent materials. Also, the dashboard by itself doesn’t look particularly elegant.
On the other hand, there is nothing to complain about regarding interior space. Moreover, both rows are generous with space and even the back seats accommodate adults pretty easily. The front seats offer decent support and good overall support.
When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 23.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back row and 50.2 cubic feet, which is very good for the segment.
Features
We don’t believe that the next year’s model could bring bigger changes in this aspect. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like automatic climate control, an 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Bluetooth. Additionally, you can get things like a moonroof, a hands-free power liftgate, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, navigation, wireless device charging, HD Radio, and a seven-speaker Bose premium audio system.
The same is with safety features. So, all models should come standard with goodies like automatic climate control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, following distance indicator etc.
2023 Buick Encore GX Engines
The 2023 Buick Encore GX will continue with the two familiar engine options on the offer. Base versions will carry on with a 1.2-liter turbo three-cylinder engine, which puts out around 137 horsepower. It’s not particularly fast but you may count on decent fuel economy, which goes around 29 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
Still, we would rather recommend the optional 1.3-liter turbo three-cylinder unit, which puts out 155 horsepower and offers notably better performance. Interestingly, it also offset slightly better fuel economy, which goes around 29 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.
Both engines come standard with a CVT. However, the bigger 1.3-liter engine is also available in the AWD layout and in that case, the Encore GX uses a 9-speed automatic transmission.

We expect that the 2023 Buick Encore GX will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 25.000 dollars.
