2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio: Changes, Updates, and Price

0

This compact luxury SUV has just entered the fifth production year and despite ok sales numbers, it trails way behind the German competition. Even though we are talking about one of the prettiest SUVs around, with excellent driving experience, it’s not all that popular, mainly because of the fact that it doesn’t feature the nicest cabin in the class, while the things aren’t much better in terms of rear-seat passenger space and cargo capacity. So, it’s no wonder that we can hear rumors about the 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, which suggests a facelift.

At this point, the officials are still quiet but such a scenario definitely makes a lot of sense. Of course, some of the 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio changes will come in terms of the styling, though we presume that the Italian carmaker won’t change much in this aspect. On the other hand, we presume some notable improvements could come in terms of the interior quality, whether it’s about the build quality or materials. Finally, things under the hood should remain the same.

2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Design

As we’ve just mentioned, this should be a typical mid-cycle refers. So, the first 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio updates that come to mind are those in terms of aesthetics. We presume that the company could introduce a couple of new styling details, particularly at the front. Still, keep in mind that we are talking about one of the best-looking models in the class, so we presume that these updates would be pretty subtle, with a few tweaks in areas like bumpers, front fascia etc. Of course, new color options are another thing we expect to see or even a new appearance package.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle won’t change. We are about to see a familiar layout, based on the Giorgio platform, with the sporty suspension and chassis setup that ensures some of the most agile driving characteristics in the class.

Interior

As we already mentioned, the interior design is probably the weakest point of this SUV and that’s why we expect to see some notable 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio updates in this aspect. This primarily refers to the build quality. We count on finer materials in critical areas, as well as more attention to detail.

Unfortunately, some things can’t improve. That particularly refers to the passenger space, which isn’t particularly generous in the second rows of seats and rivals like Audi Q5 or BMW X3 are more generous in this aspect. Rivals also offer more cargo space. With this one, you may count on about 18.5 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 56.5 cubic feet behind the front seats. That’s below-average for the class, while the narrow opening makes things even more complicated.

Features

Of course, we would expect to see more standard equipment in the next year’s model. Novelties are expected both in terms of tech and safety features, even though the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, remote start, an 8.8-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, wireless device charging, an eight-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, navigation, and five USB ports. When it comes to available features, you can find things like a dual-pane sunroof, a 14-speaker Harman Kardon stereo etc.

When it comes to safety features, all models should come standard with a rearview camera, parking sensors, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams etc. Of course, we believe that some of the current options could also be added to the list of standard features. The potential candidates are features like highway assist, lane keep assist, traffic-sign recognition etc.

2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Engines

Things under the hood definitely won’t change and the 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will carry on with two familiar powertrain options on the offer. Base models will continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque.

While the base engine offers enough power to satisfy most drivers, rear enthusiasts may also count on a 2.9-liter V6 engine that comes directly from Ferrari, which features a max output of 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque.

Both engines come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission. When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for the class. On the other hand, the optional V6 returns around 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway.

2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Release Date and Price

We expect that the updated model will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year. When it comes to the 2023 Alfa Romeo Stelvio price, we don’t believe it could change much compared to the current model, which starts at around 46.500 dollars.
