The Korean luxury carmaker is working on a couple of electric SUVs, which will be the core of the offer in the future. The smaller GV60 is almost ready for its launch, while the company is also working on a new flagship model, which will most likely come as the 2023 Genesis GV90. This will be a large SUV with an all-electric powertrain, which will represent the brand in the most exclusive SUV segment around, where the competition is extremely tough.
At this point, the company keeps most details a secret. We don’t know what the new model is going to look like, nor do we have technical specifications. However, that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t speculate about the new design. In this article, we will consider some of the possibilities for the new luxury SUV but make sure to take all of them with a reserve, considering that the officials are still quiet.
2023 Genesis GV90 Design
The 2023 Genesis GV90 is about to be the brand’s new flagship model. That’s why the expectations are very high. At this point, we can speculate about many things but one that’s for sure is the platform. In order to save costs of research and development, the Korean manufacturer will go with a familiar E-GMP architecture, the same one that’s already used for models like Kia EV6, and it will be used for the upcoming GV60.
This means that we may count on familiar setup options regarding powertrain and batteries, though there’s a big chance to see improvements in these aspects as well. For example, the largest batter at the moment is good for about 77 kWh, but we presume it could go all away up to 100 kWh with the new GV90.
In terms of the exterior design, one of the first things that come to mind is the size. This will be a flagship model, so it’s quite obvious that it’s going to feature full-size proportions. Therefore, the wheelbase should go around 120 inches, which would ensure plenty of room on the inside, along with a smooth and comfortable ride.
On the other hand, the styling is still a mystery. At this point, the best we can find are rendering photos from independent authors. According to their vision, the new 2023 Genesis GV90 will feature the brand’s familiar design language, with design solutions that are pretty similar to the G90 sedan. This particularly refers to the front end, which would come with the same grille design and same two-tier headlights design. Still, we have no doubt that the new SUV will also come with a full load of exclusive details, which will accentuate its all-electric nature.
The interior design is also a mystery but we presume some inspiration may be taken from the G90 sedan. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which could look pretty similar. That would be a great thing, considering that the large sedan comes with a pretty impressive dashboard design, which utilizes high-quality materials and features pretty impressive build quality. Furthermore, there is a long list of tech goodies, which should be even more impressive in the 2023 Genesis GV90.
As we already mentioned, the new SUV is expected to feature over 120 inches in wheelbase. So, it’s not hard to conclude that everyone expects to see three rows of seats in this one. We expect that even the third row is going to be spacious and functional, while the cargo area should also offer some respectable numbers.
2023 Genesis GV90 Powertrain
Details about the powertrain are still unavailable. However, we already mentioned that the 2023 Genesis GV90 will ride on familiar E-GMP architecture, the same one that underpins the new GV60. So, we may expect to see some similar setup, though we believe that this SUV will probably come standard with AWD setup. The GV60 will be offered in a setup with two electric motors and a total output of 429 horsepower, so we may see the same setup in this SUV as well.
Also, we expect that the 2023 Genesis GV90 will come with a bigger battery pack. Most experts suggest a 100-kWh capacity, which should ensure around 300 miles of the range. Also, we count on various charging options to on offer.
2023 Genesis GV90 Release Date and Price
At this point, it’s still early to talk about the launch date and price. Still, some sources suggest the new SUV could hit the market already in the next year. It will compete with full-size SUVs like BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS etc.
