2022 BMW X7 Facelift: Rumors, Hybrid, Price, Changes, Interior

0

BMW’s flagship SUV has been around for a while and if we can trust the latest reports, the next year’s model is about to come with big novelties. From what we can read on the network, the 2022 BMW X7 is about to receive a facelift. We are about to see a mid-cycle update, which changes in various aspects, primarily regarding aesthetics. The testing model has already been spotted and it seems quite controversial to experts.

Allegedly, the new version is about to get a quite untypical front-end design, with design solutions we haven’t seen on Bavarian models so far and it looks like the crowd isn’t impressed with rendering photos. Other than the new styling, the 2022 BMW X7 shouldn’t feature too many significant changes, though we may see a new, electrified powertrain option. Finally, there is always room for novelties regarding the new standard and available features.

The next year’s model is expected to hit the market by the end of this year.

2022 BMW X7 Design

Without any doubt, the most prominent changes for the next year will be those regarding styling. From what we can see, the test mule rides with a  lot of covered areas. Both ends are expected to come with a lot of novelties, but the front is definitely far more intriguing. The camouflage covers a lot, but rendering photos show some pretty controversial things. First of all, there are new, split headlights, which completely change the character of this large SUV. Also, we count on a slightly bigger grille, as well as on a new, more aggressive bumper design.

The rear end will also come with novelties, though they definitely won’t be that massive. We presume that the 2022 BMW X7 could come with a new rear bumper, as well as with some revisions in terms of taillights and surrounding areas. Finally, we count on typical mid-cycle updates, such as new wheels, color options and similar things.

Interior

Bigger interior changes are not expected. Therefore, you may count on a familiar layout, which has so many great things to offer. This particularly refers to the dashboard design, which looks really stylish. It’s not as flashy as the one found in the GLS, for example. Instead, it comes with a toned-down, simpler and more elegant layout. On the other hand, the materials and overall build quality are pretty impressive.

Besides the impressive overall quality, this cabin also offers a decent level of practicality. It comes with three rows of seats, where the first two accommodate adults with ease. The front seats are particularly impressive. The driving position is excellent, whether it’s about ergonomics or visibility.

On the other hand, the third row isn’t the most spacious in the segment but can be very useful, especially for kids. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on 12.8 cubic feet behind the third row. Fold them down and you get  48.6 cubic feet of space, while the total cargo volume goes up to 90.4 cubic feet.

Features

Of course, the upcoming update should bring novelties in terms of standard equipment as well. Still, we don’t expect that things could be significantly different compared to the current model. The X7 already comes with a pretty impressive list of standard and available equipment.

For example, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, a 10-speaker stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, and navigation, as well as with things like a panoramic moonroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, proximity keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a universal garage door opener. Additionally, you can get goodies like a panoramic moonroof, quad-zone automatic climate control, remote start, proximity keyless entry, ambient interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a universal garage door opener.

Among options, you can find upgrades like gesture control, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon surround-sound stereo, a 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround-sound stereo, a driving information recorder, and a rear-seat entertainment system, as well as glass interior controls, heated and cooled cupholders, five-zone automatic climate control, and a larger moonroof with LED lighting.

2022 BMW X7 Engines

When it comes to the powertrain, base models should continue with a well-known 3.0-liter inline-six, which puts out around 335 horsepower. The M50i should be the next in the line, with the max output of 523 horsepower. Finally, there is the Alpina BX7, with a total output of 612 horsepower. All three engines come in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

For next year, some reports suggest the addition of a plug-in hybrid powertrain. We would probably see a familiar 389-hp system, based on a 3.0-liter inline-six engine.

2022 BMW X7 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2022 BMW X7 will arrive by the end of the year, with a starting price of around 77.000 dollars.
