2022 Audi Q2 Review, Release date, Price, Interior

Audi’s entry-level has been around for a while and while it’s quite popular in Europe, it still isn’t available in North America. The 2022 Audi Q2 won’t be any different and it will be offered only in Europe and few more markets. Also, it will continue with the same design, which was updated last year with the new styling, which should keep the model fresh for a few more years. Of course, minor updates are always possible, but we definitely don’t expect to see too many of them for the next year.

So, you may count on familiar design characteristics. This crossover offers a nice styling, along with a few solid engine options. We also like the cabin quality, even though it looks a little bit old. On the other side, the thing we definitely don’t like is driving.

Considering that bigger changes definitely won’t happen, we have no doubt that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

2022 Audi Q2 Redesign

The current generation of this small crossover has been around since 2016 and after the recent update, we are pretty sure that the next year won’t bring any particular changes. We are about to see a familiar layout, which now incorporates a number of new styling solutions. We like the model’s new face, which now looks bolder than before. The grille is more massive, while the bumper offers sharper lines. The rear bumper comes in a similar manner, so we can’t find any complaints about the styling.

On the other side, things aren’t that impressive in terms of mechanics. This model rides on VW’s familiar MQB platform but somehow feels different compared to similarly-sized siblings. For example, models like Golf, Seat Leon, and Audi A3 are characterized by sharp and engaging handling. On the other side, this crossover feels extremely dull. We say this is a typical A-to-B-point car and if you have any driving ambitions, you should look somewhere else.

Interior

The inside of this crossover will also continue in the same way. The recent update has brought almost nothing in terms of the interior design, which may seem like a slight issue. Without any doubt, materials and build quality are great. However, we find the dashboard design a little bit outdated. It mirrors the previous generation of A3, which means you can find a relatively bland dash with those round vents and not, particularly appealing infotainment screen. The fact that Audi usually makes excellent interiors make us feel a little bit disappointed in this case.

On the other side, there is nothing to complain about in terms of passenger space. Even though we are talking about a vehicle that measures just 102.4 inches in wheelbase, there is a pretty fair amount of legroom in the second row. So, we can say that four adults could accommodate comfortably. However, the front row is still a much better place to be in, with plenty of space and comfortable seats. The driving position is very good, as well as the visibility.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 405 liters behind the second row, which is quite decent for the class.

Engines

One of the best things about this crossover is a pretty wide engine offer. In most markets, base models come with a new 1.5-liter turbo-four gasoline engine, which puts out around 150 horsepower. That’s more than enough for solid driving dynamics and overall performances, especially if you pick a version with DSG transmission. The manual gearbox works just fine as well. If you’re rather for something more powerful, you can opt for the SQ2 version. This one uses a 2.0-liter turbo-four, the same one that can be found in the Golf R and other performance models of the VW Group. It features nearly 300 horsepower and provides impressive driving dynamics. This version also comes with other kinds of upgrades, in terms of suspension, brakes, aesthetics, etc.

Germans still love diesel, so it’s no wonder that a couple of oil-burners is also on the offer. Of course, we are talking about the well-known 2.0-liter TDI, which comes in two output variants, with either 150 or 190 horsepower. In both cases, you may count on solid performance and a pretty impressive fuel economy. Just like the gasoline model, these ones are also available with either manual or DSG transmission.

2022 Audi Q2 Release Date and Price

The year after the facelift will most likely come without more notable updates and that is a clear indicator that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of 2021. Also, we don’t expect bigger changes in price. The current model starts at around £22,500 in the UK. Models like Mazda CX-30 and Mini Cooper Countryman are some of the potential rivals.
