2025 Audi Q7 Redesign: What We Know So Far

0

The original Q7 was in production for a full decade and it looks like the current iteration will last as long. It looks like it will remain in production for another year or so, while the all-new model is about to arrive in 2025. From what we know so far, the third generation will bring mostly evolutionary changes, with a familiar design approach but updates in all aspects.

The evolutionary design approach means that the next generation will ride on the same platform and that it will be the last Q7 to use internal combustion engines, which will be backed up with mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains. Naturally, we expect to see new styling, as well as a new cabin design, with nicer materials, more elegant design etc. Finally, we count on lots of new tech features.

The 2025 Audi Q7 is expected to arrive sometime in 2025, though it is still early for a more precise date.

2025 Audi Q7 Redesign

The third generation of Audi’s mid-size SUV will bring mostly evolutionary changes,  as we already mentioned. This refers to many things, starting from the platform, which will be the same MLB architecture, though we won’t be surprised if we see some modifications on it, especially when it comes to new tech and safety systems, as well as electrification of the current powertrain options.

Of course, we might see some modifications on the chassis and suspension. The current model stands pretty well in this aspect, with its air suspension that offers a smooth but also quite engaging ride. With composed handling, this model stands somewhere between its key rivals, BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, offering a little bit of both worlds.

Exterior

Naturally, this redesign is also about to bring a completely new styling and overall exterior design. The current generation has been around since 2015 and it was updated in 2020, so there is plenty of room for change. Simply, the current model is starting to look a little bit outdated but nevertheless, we won’t be seeing radical changes.

Namely, Audi is well-known as one of the most conservative car companies when it comes to aesthetics. So, what we expect to see are mostly evolutionary changes. The overall shape, as well as dimensions, is about to remain very similar. On the other hand, the biggest changes will be at the front, where we expect to see a new face, with some inspiration taken from e-tron SUV. Naturally, there is also a lot of room for a couple of exclusive details.

Interior

The same thing is with interior design, which should bring evolutionary changes as well. This means that the dashboard design will carry one with conservative design philosophy, offering subtle changes only. On the other hand, the Q7 set some pretty high standards regarding build quality and materials, so we expect nothing less from the new model. The same thing goes for interior tech features, which should bring further improvements.

The current cabin offers a couple of spacious and comfortable rows of seats but, unfortunately, the third row isn’t all that spacious. Moreover, it is pretty tight, even by the standards of the mid-size SUV segment. The same thing is with the cargo area, so we presume that the 2025 Audi Q7 could bring some improvements in this aspect.

2025 Audi Q7 Engines

As we already mentioned, this will be the last generation with internal-combustion engines. Most of the current engines will carry on, though with some sort of electrification. Base engines are expected to get mild-hybrid setups and that particularly refers to units like a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 252 horsepower and a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that puts out 335 horsepower. Of course, the addition of an electric motor could increase the max output and it will definitely have a positive effect on driving dynamics. The same thing is with the high-performance SQ7 model, which is currently equipped with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, with a max output of 500 horsepower.

The 2025 Audi Q7 will also come with plug-in hybrid powertrains. There are already two units of this kind, both based on the V6 engine and coupled with a 17.5-kWh battery pack. One of them puts out 376 horsepower, while the other is good for 450 horses. We presume that the current systems will be improved with things like more power, better efficiency and better EV range.

2025 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price

At this point, the best we could say is that we expect to see the 2025 Audi Q7 sometime in 2025. When it comes to the price, the current model starts at around 60.000 dollars but we presume that the next generation will come with a little bit higher starting price.
