2024 Suzuki Vitara Redesign: Long-Wheelbase Version Rumored

The Japanese carmaker has always been famous for making excellent small cars and Vitara has always been one of its best representatives. Characterized by an excellent drivetrain and refined engines, this model has never been as flashy as most rivals but on the other hand, the mechanical aspect has always been impressive. The current generation is no exception but it looks like it’s time for updates. Simply, the current model hasn’t changed much since 2015, so it’s no wonder that many reports suggest a full redesign in the near future. Most like, the 2024 Suzuki Vitara will come completely redesigned.

At this point, it’s still early to talk about details but it looks like the changes will be mostly evolutionary. Suzuki engineers will make some fine tunings on the famous AllGrip all-wheel-drive system, while the biggest changes are expected in terms of aesthetics. Of course, we also count on a completely new interior, with nicer materials and more tech features.

2024 Suzuki Vitara Redesign

Various reports suggest that the 2024 Suzuki Vitara is about to come completely redesigned. What we expect to see are mostly evolutionary changes, at least in terms of mechanics. The new model will be slightly bigger but it will probably feature the same wheelbase, which currently measures 2500 millimeters. The drivetrain will remain the same, so base versions will feature front-wheel drive, while the AllGrip system will be available.

Of course, the biggest novelty should be the new styling. At this point, it’s still early to talk details but we presume that some inspiration could be taken from the recently-redesigned SX Cross, which came with a more upscale look, with fancier headlights and a more prominent grille. On the other hand, we don’t believe that the 2024 Suzuki Vitara could change drastically its overall shape.

Some sources also suggest a long-wheelbase version. Allegedly, the company is considering bringing back the Grand Vitara moniker, which would feature a longer wheelbase, which will ensure much more interior space. Some rumors even suggest the optional third row of seats. In any case, this version would be a real family SUV.

Of course, this redesign would also bring a completely new cabin design. We expect to see notable improvements in various aspects, starting from better build quality, with nicer materials and more attention to detail. Furthermore, we expect to see more tech and convenience features. Some of the things that come to mind are a bigger touchscreen, along with new connectivity features. A digital instrument cluster is also possible.

The standard version will keep similar dimensions, so we count on the same amount of passenger space, with a decently-sized second row and pretty comfortable front seats. On the other hand, the rumored long-wheelbase version would come with more space in the second row and a bigger cargo area, while some sources also speculate about the optional third row.

2024 Suzuki Vitara Engine

When it comes to the powertrain, we presume that some of the current units will carry on. This primarily refers to the familiar 1.4-liter turbo-four, which comes in pair with a small electric motor. The engine features 129 horsepower and gets help from a 12-hp electric motor. The overall performance is great, while the powertrain feels very refined.

The company recently introduced a hybrid version, based on a 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit and we could easily see it in the new model as well. Still, it could easily be replaced with something more modern. If we can trust the latest rumors, the company is working on a new plug-in hybrid setup, which would offer way more power, better fuel economy and a decent EV range.
