2024 Range Rover Evoque EV: What We Know So Far

0

If we can trust the latest reports, the second generation of Range Rover Evoque will have a shorter production cycle than the original model. Namely, the British manufacturer is working on the next, third generation of the nameplate, which will debut in about a year or two. Most sources suggest that the model will arrive as the 2024 Range Rover Evoque EV and it will be offered with an all-electric powertrain.

The next generation will bring a lot of novelties, starting from the new platform, which will be dedicated to an electric vehicles. Also, we are about to see typical redesign changes, which include things like new styling, new interior design, new tech features etc. While the powertrain will certainly bring radical changes, the overall design will be mostly about evolutionary modifications.

2024 Range Rover Evoque EV Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Range Rover Evoque EV is about to come completely redesigned and for that occasion, the British manufacturer has prepared a lot of novelties. The first thing that comes to mind is the platform, which will be shared with Discovery Sport once again.

The new architecture is called EMA, which stands for Electrified Modular Architecture, which will be underpinning smaller vehicles in JLR’s range. Unlike the MLA platform, which is highly modular and flexible, and supports both electrified and ICE powertrain options, this one will be dedicated to electric cars. Standard versions will come with an all-electric powertrain, while the architecture would also support hybrid setups, with smaller-displacement engines.

In terms of BEV, the new platform follows the latest trends in the industry. So, we are talking about an 800-volt architecture, which will ensure excellent performance and superb charging speeds. On the other hand, the battery will be placed under the floor and it won’t sacrifice interior space.

Exterior

Of course, the upcoming redesign will also bring a completely new exterior. At this point, details are still unavailable but we have no doubt that Land Rover will tend to stay away from radical changes. Instead, we expect to see an evolution of the current design. Dimensions will probably remain very similar to the outgoing generation, which measures around 105.6 inches in wheelbase and 172 inches in total length. Of course, the new generation might feature a wider track to improve handling. Styling-wise, we presume that a lot of inspiration will be taken from bigger brothers like Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.

In terms of mechanics, we presume that the new generation will come with further upgrades regarding suspension setup, though the overall layout would remain largely the same. Simply, the current generation is already refined in this aspect, with multi-link suspension on the rear end. Of course, we expect the 2024 Range Rover Evoque EV to remain a capable off-roader, with decent ground clearance, low-speed cruise control and the latest version of Terrain Response that offers a variety of traction modes.

Interior

Naturally, the cabin is also expected to come completely new. At this point, we still don’t know the details but we presume that the new model will keep the same simplistic design approach as the outgoing model. We count on a clean, elegant dashboard design, with a couple of massive screens and an obvious lack of physical controls. Materials and build quality should be at a high level.

The biggest drawback of the current generation is the lack of space. While the front seats are very spacious and comfortable, the second row is a completely different story. Therefore, we expect that the new model will bring improvements in this aspect and become more spacious in the second row. The cargo area would also use additional space.

2024 Range Rover Evoque EV Powertrain

As we already mentioned, the 2024 Range Rover Evoque EV will ride on a platform that’s primarily designed for electric vehicles. It is an 800-volt architecture and the company promises excellent efficiency. On the other hand, details about the battery are still unavailable, so we won’t speculate about the max range. The same thing is with electric motors and their output. On the other hand, we expect that the base model will come with a dual-motor setup and all-wheel drive.

Besides an all-electric setup, the next-generation Evoque should also come with a hybrid powertrain. Details are still unavailable but most sources suggest a plug-in hybrid setup, with decent EV autonomy. The current generation already features such a setup, based on a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, with a combined output of 304 horsepower. So, we presume the new model would raise the bar even more.

2024 Range Rover Evoque Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Range Rover Evoque will hit the market in the next year or so. While the new all-electric version will compete with other similarly sized EVs, the hybrid model should battle with traditional competitors, such as models like BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA etc.
