2024 Lexus TX Three-Row SUV: What We Know So Far

0

Lexus lovers have been begging for a three-row crossover for years. The company came up with the RX L but not many buyers were impressed with its extremely modest third-row space. Therefore, the next generation of the most popular mid-size SUV won’t be offered in such a version. Instead, the company will introduce a brand-new model called the 2024 Lexus TX. It will be significantly bigger, with the third row that’s actually spacious and comfortable.

From what we know so far, the new crossover will share many parts with the upcoming Toyota Grand Highlander. The two models should share the wheelbase, as well as some powertrain. On the other hand, the rest of the vehicle will rather be shared with the recently introduced next-generation RX, which has brought some pretty interesting design solutions.

We believe that the 2024 Lexus TX could arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.

2024 Lexus TX Design

Design-wise, the 2024 Lexus TX should share the size with the upcoming Grand Highlander. The exact dimensions are still unknown but we presume that the wheelbase will be significantly longer compared to the RX. It could get pretty close to 120 inches, which would ensure plenty of room on the inside, for the adult-friendly third row.

On the other hand, most of the mechanics, including the chassis and suspension setup should be shared with the RX, though we wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of additional upgrades, which would improve the ride quality even more.

In terms of the styling, we expect that the 2024 Lexus TX will follow the brand’s latest design language, which means that the front end should look very similar to the new RX. We will see a front-end design that utilizes a massive grille, along with a new shape of headlights. The overall share should come in a typical wagon-like layout, with a long rear overhang and plenty of room for passengers and cargo.

Interior

As you may presume, the biggest quality of the 2024 Lexus TX will be the amount of space. Lexus will finally come up with an SUV that accommodates 7 or 8 passengers with ease. The third row will be adult-friendly, which is something you can’t get from any model in the current lineup. Of course, the first and the second row will come with plenty of room and a high level of comfort. The cargo area should also offer some respectable numbers for the class, where some of the key competitors would be models like the Audi Q7, Volvo XC90 etc.

Besides generous amounts of space, this crossover will also feature a high-quality interior. In this aspect, we don’t expect bigger differences compared to the new RX. The dashboard should look largely the same, which is a great thing. Simply, the new dash looks amazing. It features an attractive shape, while the materials and attention to detail are excellent.

Furthermore, you may expect a generous amount of tech features, starting from the massive 14.0-inch infotainment screen. It’s worth mentioning that Lexus has switched to a more intuitive, touchscreen layout.

2024 Lexus TX Engines

This aspect shouldn’t bring surprises. We count on the same powertrain lineup as in the upcoming RX, which would mean at least four versions in the offer. Base models will use the company’s new 2.4-liter turbo-four, which puts out 275 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque.

The rest of the lineup will be electrified. The first setup that comes to mind is the same one that powers the Highlander. We are talking about a system that combines a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with a couple of electric motors, for a total output of 256 horsepower. Besides decent performance, this system also offers impressive efficiency. We estimate that the new 2024 Lexus TX could be able to return up to 35 miles per gallon with this hybrid powertrain.

The Japanese manufacturer has also prepared a new hybrid system, based on a turbo-four engine. From what we know so far, this will be the most powerful version of the TX, with a combined output of 367 horsepower.

Finally, count on a plug-in hybrid setup, which will be the same as the one found in the RAV4 Prime with 302 horsepower. Still, we may see a slight power increase in this case.

2024 Lexus TX Release Date and Price

The 2024 Lexus TX is expected to arrive sometime in the second half of the next year. We estimate that the starting price could go around 60.000 dollars.
