Electric cars are taking over the market. SUVs have already done that. Logically, it is expected that all-electric SUVs will be the leading segment of the automotive industry in the future. Even today, their popularity is rising at a rapid speed and that’s why many manufacturers are preparing their models for this segment.

The next few years will bring a lot of interesting all-electric SUVs and crossovers. All of them will compete with each other not just in terms of range and power, but in traditional SUV strengths as well. That’s why we are eagerly waiting to see new models, with not only premium badges but mainstream brands as well.

Here is our list of the most interesting upcoming electric SUVs:

2023 Subaru Solterra

As we’ve just mentioned, many all-new electric SUVs are about to come in the near future, even from conservative carmakers such as Subaru. The Japanese company has joined its force with Toyota and the first EV is already on the way. It will come as the 2023 Subaru Solterra.

At this point, we don’t know much but what’s a certain thing is that the new Solterra will be a compact crossover. It will share technology with the recently presented Toyota bZ4X Concept, though we still don’t know anything about the power and range.

2023 Subaru Solterra

On the other hand, we can see a couple of rendering photos on the network. The exterior seems to bring Subaru’s new design language but the inside looks more interesting at this point. This particularly refers to the new infotainment screen and center screen, which come integrated into some kind of a self-holding panel.

2023 BMW iX1

The Bavarian carmaker has been into electric cars for years and it already has a couple of models in its portfolio. The 2023 BMW iX1 will be the latest edition. This model will come next year and as you may presume, it will represent the company in the subcompact segment, with a similar size as the standard X1 model.

This crossover will be based on the latest version of eDrive architecture and from what we can hear, it will come in two variants. Base models will come with a single electric motor setup and a 38-kWh battery pack, which should ensure at least 200 km of the max range.

On the other hand, a high-performance version will come with electric motors on both axles, as well as with a bigger 74-kWh battery pack, which should ensure two-times better range.  Also, some sources suggest a completely new interior design, fully digitalized and full of futuristic details.

2024 GMC Hummer EV SUV

The development of the new Hummer in a pickup version is almost done, while the SUV iteration will probably arrive a year later, most likely as the 2024 GMC Hummer EV. At this point, we don’t know the details, but we are pretty sure that most of the parts will be identical to the pickup sibling.

This particularly refers to mechanics and drivetrain setup. Therefore, the most powerful version will also feature three electric motors, with a total output of around 1.000 horsepower and 1.100 pound-feet of torque. With such a power, the 0-60 time should go around 3 seconds, while we also count on max towing capacity of around 11.500 pounds.

The 2024 GMC Hummer EV will be a huge vehicle and that’s why we count on a huge battery pack as well. According to the latest reports, the new Hummer will feature a 200-kWh battery pack, which should ensure a max range of more than 300 miles. Of course, we count on all kinds of charging options, including a fast charger that speeds up to 300kW.

2023 Jeep Wrangler Magneto

Last March, Jeep presented an all-electric version of Wrangler and since then, we are eagerly waiting for news about the possible production. Last month, Jeep officially announced that the all-electric SUV will be coming in 2023. Many believe that could be the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Magneto, though the officials weren’t that precise with their statement.

The concept version that was presented earlier this year features a custom-made electric motor with a max output of 285 horsepower, coupled with a 70-kWh battery pack, which was placed under the hood and in the trunk. Interestingly, only Level 1 and Level 2 fast chargers were supported, not the Level 3 fast charger.

We presume that the production version would have to come with a couple of improvements, regarding charging and battery placement. Also, keep in mind that the official model is yet to be announced, so we might see some other all-electric SUV other than the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Magneto.

2023 Kia EV7

Kia has already launched a few all-electric vehicles and the 2023 Kia EV7 is next in the line. At this point, we still don’t know too many details but it looks like this is going to be a pretty big vehicle, most likely a three-row crossover.

The details about power and other specification are yet to be announced but what we know for sure is that this model will also be based on Hyundai’s new E-GMP architecture, which supports some pretty advanced technology solutions, starting from an 800-volt battery and fast charging that goes up to 350 kW.

2023 Kia EV7

We expect that the 2023 Kia EV7 will come in a few different configurations. All models should feature three rows of seats, but base variants will probably come with a single-motor setup and front-wheel drive. On the other hand, more expensive models will feature electric motors on both axles. The new model should arrive by the end of 2023.

2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB

The German luxury carmaker established a new EQ subdivision for all-electric models and already has a couple of units in its portfolio. One of the upcoming additions will be the 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB, which will represent this brand in the segment of subcompact electric crossovers.

Of course, the new model will have a lot of things in common with the larger EQC, starting from mechanics. However, it will be notably smaller and lighter, while we also count on smaller battery packs and less range. If we can trust the latest reports, this model will come equipped with a 66.5-kWh battery (the same as EQA), which should ensure more than 200 miles on a single charge.

From what we know so far, base models will come with a single-motor setup, with a max output of 221 horsepower. More powerful variants will get an additional motor on the other axle. Also, we count on the same trim level organization as in the EQA model, which means three grades – Progressive, Premium, and Advanced.

The new model should arrive by the end of 2022.

2023 Nissan Ariya

Nissan has been making electric vehicles for a long time but this will be the first all-electric SUV on the offer. The new model is almost ready and we know most of the details about it, whether it’s about battery or performance.

Besides a really attractive appearance, this model will also come with two quite capable powertrain options on offer. Base models will feature a single-motor setup, with a max output of 217 horsepower, while the dual-motor version will feature all-wheel drive and a max output of 394 horsepower.

As far as it goes for the battery, base models will feature a 63-kWh setup, which should ensure up to 211 miles on a single charge. On the other hand, the more powerful version will also feature a bigger battery pack, with 87-kWh capacity and a max range of over 300 miles.

The first deliveries should start by the end of 2021.

2023 Porsche Macan EV

The Porsche Macan EV has been in talks for a pretty long time, which indicates that designers are pretty cautious with this compact SUV. That’s no surprise, considering that we are talking about the brand’s best-selling model, which will soon become all-electric.

The test mule has already been spotted and we can see that the styling won’t be significantly different compared to the gasoline-powered version. Still, things will be completely different under the skin, considering that the new model will ride on the same architecture as Taycan.

2023 Porsche Macan EV

This means the same 800-volt platform, which will provide a lot of benefits. Allegedly, the range-topping version will be able to make over 400 miles on a single charge. The max charging speed will go up to 270kw. Details about power and performances are yet to be announced.

Toyota bZ4X Concept

Earlier this year, the Japanese manufacturer presented the Toyota bZ4X Concept. According to the latest reports, the production will start pretty quickly and we have big expectations from this model, which could be the next best-seller of the world’s biggest carmaker.

At this point, the officials are still quiet about the numbers. We don’t know how many miles this crossover will be able to make, nor the max output. On the other hand, we know for sure it will feature all-wheel drive as standard, and AWD setup in other words. Also, many expect that the company will introduce its new technology, a solid-state battery with this model. This could be a real game-changer in the world of EV cars.

What we know about the Toyota bZ4X is that the production version won’t look much different compared to the concept. We expect to see pretty similar aesthetics, which minor tweaks only. The same goes for the interior design, which seemed very production-ready when Toyota presented the concept.

We expect that this crossover will hit the market sometime in the middle of 2022, with the starting price under 40.000 dollars.

2023 Cadillac LYRIQ

We have no doubt that all of these models on the list will be great but we still have to point out the one with the most potential. In our humble opinion, that is the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ, which will bring a whole new dimension to the EV segment. Of course, we are talking about luxury.

The 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ looks production ready and its styling left such a nice impression on us. A coupe-like appearance with a sloping roof isn’t a new thing, but Caddy reinvented the shape with this one. Things are even more impressive on the inside, where you can notice a heavy influence from the Escalade, especially when it comes to that massive, 33-inch screen, which covers both the instrument cluster and the infotainment.

When it comes to the platform, the new 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ will ride on GM’s latest architecture, which supports various battery capacities and other things. We have no doubt that the new crossover will be offered in several versions regarding max power and batter.

Most likely, base models will feature a single-motor setup and RWD layout. Some sources estimate a max power of around 340 horsepower, which should ensure 0-60 time in about 4.5 seconds. Of course, higher trim levels would come with two or even more electric motors, and they should compete with the most capable variants of the Tesla Model X and similar models.

2023 Cadillac LYRIQ

When it comes to the battery, the new platform supports a capacity between 50 and 200 kWh. Most likely, base versions will feature a 100-kWh battery pack, which would ensure a max range of more than 300 miles.

We expect to see 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ early next year, with a starting price of around 60.000 dollars.
