2023 Subaru Forester Preview: Redesign, Hybrid, Turbo, Sport, Colors

0

If we’ve learned something about Subaru in the past few decades is that this Japanese manufacturer likes to stick with the schedule. Its models usually remain in production for five years and considering that the 2023 Subaru Forester will represent the fifth production year of the current generation, we are pretty sure that the next year won’t bring any particular changes. Instead, we will see a familiar layout, which will continue with all the updates that were introduced with the 2022 model.

So, you may count on a crossover that still has a lot of great things to offer. We like its spacious and comfortable cabin, as well as a pretty generous cargo area. Furthermore, the Forester offers a pretty generous list of standard equipment, especially when it comes to safety features. Finally, there is the company’s famous all-wheel-drive system, the main reason why Subaru stands out from the crowd.

Since there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we expect that the 2023 Subaru Forester will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022.

This will be the final production year of the current generation. Therefore, we expect to see no notable change. The overall layout will remain the same, based on the company’s new modular platform, which underpins almost everything in Subaru’s lineup. Of course, keep in mind the recent update, which has brought a couple of pretty interesting novelties. All of them will carry on in the 2023 Subaru Forester, including new styling details. The 2022 model came with things like a new front fascia, revised headlights, new wheels, color options etc.

Also, the company introduced a new version called Wilderness. We have no doubt that this model will be offered in the next year as well, with all of its interesting upgrades. This model comes with goodies like higher ground clearance, upgraded tires and a full load of styling details that emphasize its off-road character.

Interior

The 2023 Subaru Forester interior will be practical and well-built, just like in the current version. We like how the current cabin looks, as it combines conventional aesthetics with nice materials and good overall build quality. Furthermore, there is a decent amount of tech goodies, which make everything look even more upscale.

Still, the strongest point of this interior is the amount of space. This SUV comes with a couple of pretty spacious rows of seats, which both accommodate taller passengers pretty easily. Furthermore, the front seats offer a decent amount of side support, while the driving position is excellent.

The cargo area also offers some pretty impressive numbers. You may count on up to 31.1 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 76.1 cubic feet in total.

Features

We don’t expect to see changes in this aspect either. So, the list of standard equipment should include goodies like a 6.5-inch touch screen, two USB ports, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, Bluetooth, four speakers and automatic climate control. In more expensive variants, you can get lots of upgrades, such as dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker audio system, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two additional USB ports, navigation etc.

Subaru has always been generous with safety features and the current Forester is no exception. It comes standard with goodies like a rearview camera, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lead vehicle start alert, and lane keep assist. Additionally, you can get upgrades like driver drowsiness monitoring, blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, and reverse automatic emergency braking.

2023 Subaru Forester Engine

Things under the hood won’t change either. The 2023 Subaru Forester will continue with a familiar setup. It is based on a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine, which puts out around 182 horsepower. The engine is paired with a CVT gearbox, which does a surprisingly good job and operates pretty smoothly. Of course, all-wheel drive is standard and it ensures excellent traction in all conditions. Combined with 8.7 inches of ground clearance, it also ensures pretty strong off-road performance.

Driving dynamics are decent but what we really like is fuel economy. This crossover returns around 27 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway, which is more than you get from most rivals, even though we are talking about an AWD drivetrain, which is usually thirstier compared to models with a 2WD setup.

2023 Subaru Forester Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Subaru Forester will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. Also, we don’t expect bigger price changes, so base versions should cost around 26.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Nissan Rogue, Chevy Equinox, Mazda CX-5 etc.
