2023 Subaru Crosstrek Redesign: What We Know So Far

0

The 2022 Crosstrek represents the fifth production year of the current generation and if you’re familiar with this Japanese carmaker, you know very well what’s next. The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek is about to get a complete redesign and from what we can hear, there are several interesting novelties to come. With this redesign, Subaru will introduce a lot of novelties, particularly in terms of new technologies. The test mule has been spotted on the road and it still wears complete camouflage.

Despite the complete redesign, we don’t expect any radical changes. This company is well known for its cautious approach, so it’s pretty much for sure that a vast majority of changes will be evolutionary. This particularly refers to aesthetics, which should once again reflect Subaru’s conservative philosophy. On the other hand, we count on a lot of new technologies, whether it’s about driver-assistance features or infotainment system.

Although the launch date is yet to be announced, we expect that the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek will hit the market sometime in the second half of the year.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Design

The 2023 Subaru Crosstrek will receive a full redesign. From what we know so far, it will be fitted to the latest version of Subaru’s modular platform, which will bring improvements regarding suspension and chassis setup, ride quality etc. Furthermore, it will allow the implementation of some new technologies, maybe even some form of autonomous driving.

Still, most of the mechanical aspect will remain the same. The overall design approach and layout will remain the same, while we don’t expect significant changes in terms of the size either. Also, we presume that the new model would be offered in the Wilderness trim level, just like other models in the lineup. This version would feature some nice off-road upgrades, such as higher ground clearance, upgraded tires etc.

Exterior Design

Of course, what we expect to see is a new styling. As we already mentioned, this is a pretty conservative company, which takes redesigns with big caution. That’s why we are pretty sure that the next-generation model won’t bring any radical changes, especially in terms of styling. The aesthetics will bring evolutionary changes only. The overall share will remain the same, while the front end will suffer most. We count on a new face, which should take some inspiration from the recently redesigned WRX.

As we already mentioned, we don’t expect bigger changes in terms of size. The overall proportions should remain pretty similar, which means that the wheelbase will go a little bit over 105 inches. The current model is 175.8 inches long and we don’t believe that the new model could be significantly longer.

Interior

Of course, we count on a new interior design as well. Once again, we don’t expect anything radical. The overall cabin design should bring further improvements in terms of build quality and materials, while we also count on updated aesthetics. Still, the overall functionality of the cabin shouldn’t change much. We count on a similar amount of passenger and cargo space.

On the other hand, we expect to see a lot of new technologies inside this crossover. One of the first things that come to mind is the new Starlink infotainment system, while we also expect to see some novelties regarding driver-assistance features. Still, we don’t expect to see some significant improvements, as the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It already comes standard with goodies like a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive headlights, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist etc.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Engines

Most likely, the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek will continue with the same engine under the hood. That would be a 2.5-liter flat-four, which currently puts out 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough for decent performance, while the CVT gearbox ensures good fuel economy. Of course, the all-wheel-drive would be part of the standard equipment.

A hybrid version is expected too and we presume that would be an upgraded version of the current system, with more power and better EV range. The current version features a max output of 148 horsepower, while the max all-electric range goes around 17 miles.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2023 Subaru Crosstrek sometime in the second half of the year, with a starting price of around 24.000 dollars. Models like Honda HR-V and Chevrolet TrailBlazer will remain key competitors.
