2023 Range Rover Sport Redesign: What We Know So Far

0

The new generation of the Range Rover Sport is on the way. The British manufacturer has been testing this new SUV for nearly two years and it looks like the new model is finally getting close to the serial production. According to the latest reports, the new model should arrive by the end of this year. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation. In any case, the 2023 Range Rover Sport is about to bring a lot of novelties.

This will be the fifth generation of nameplates and we count on significant changes compared to the current model, which has been around for nearly a decade. Of course, a new platform is one of the first things that come to mind, while we also count on a completely new styling, new interior design and a lot of new powertrain options, which will include some electrified versions as well.

We expect that the 2023 Range Rover Sport will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year.

2023 Range Rover Sport Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the generation is about to bring a lot of novelties. One of the first things that come to mind is the platform. The current D7 architecture will probably be replaced with the new MLA architecture, which should bring improvements in various aspects. Count on some weight reductions and, more importantly, a new chassis and suspension setup, which will make the ride even smoother and more engaging.

Of course, the new 2023 Range Rover Sport still be a super-capable off-roader, with a full pack of mechanical and electronics features.  One of the first things that come to mind is the company’s well-known Terrain Response system, which will come updated and upgraded, with traction control modes for rocks, sand, snow, mud etc.

Exterior

Naturally, the new generation will also bring a completely new styling. At this point, the test mule still wears a lot of camouflage. SO, it’s pretty hard to talk about details. Still, we presume that a lot of inspiration will be taken from the new Range Rover, which had a premiere recently. This particularly refers to the front-end design.

What we can see is the overall silhouette, which looks quite similar to the previous model. The overall shape comes in the model’s typical fashion, while dimensions seem pretty similar as well.

Interior

At this point, it is early to talk about interior design. Still, we presume that the dashboard design will have some things in common with the flagship sibling. Once again, we expect to see a typical British design approach, which combines conservative aesthetics with quality materials and great attention to detail. Furthermore, we expect a full load of the latest tech features, including a massive infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster and similar things.

Considering that the new model won’t feature significantly different dimensions, we are pretty sure that the amount of passenger space will also remain pretty similar. Just like the current model, the new one should come standard with two rows of seats, while the third row should be optional.

2023 Range Rover Sport Engines

When it comes to powertrain, we count on a wide range of options. Most likely, base models will come with a turbo-four engine that puts out around 300 horsepower. Of course, the first upgrades would come in the form of an inline-six engine, with 360 and 400 horsepower. The SVT version has been expected too and it will probably feature BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with around 550 horsepower.

We also count on massive electrification, in terms of plug-in hybrid models. Of course, we count on JLR’s two familiar systems, both based on inline-six engines, with a max output of 440 and 510 horsepower. An all-electric version should arrive in the future as well.
